Job summary

Qualifications

• University degree in Economics, Accounting or Finance.
• 5–10 years of experience in financial accounting, including month-end and year-end close activities.
• Understanding of Polish GAAP and US GAAP, as well as VAT, CIT and WHT.
• Experience working with external auditors and regulatory authorities.
• Strong analytical skills, able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Post accounting entries and ensure timely monthly reporting to corporate.
• Support month-end and year-end close processes; maintain P&L and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare financial statements under US GAAP and Local GAAP; collaborate with EY and tax advisors.
• Assist with CIT, VAT and WHT calculations and submissions.
• Collaborate with regional finance teams and cross-functional partners in Poland and CEE.

Job Description

Becton Dickinson Polska is seeking a Financial Accountant responsible for managing financial records, accounting entries, financial reporting, ensuring compliance with laws, handling tax (VAT, CIT, WHT), supporting audits for Poland and CEE legal entities. The role involves close collaboration with regional finance teams and local businesses.

Job Responsibilities/Key duties

Reporting and Month-End Close

• Post accounting entries.
• Ensure timely and accurate monthly reporting to corporate.
• Participate in month-end and year-end close processes.
• Maintain, reconcile, and resolve P&L and balance sheet accounts.
• Contribute to financial statements creation in accordance with US GAAP and Local GAAP.

Compliance and Audits

• Manage relationships and working closely with external auditors (EY) and tax advisors (Crido, PwC).
• Participate in the annual financial audit process.
• Prepare and provide financial data, reports and documentation to auditors and authorities (Tax Office, Statistical Office, National Bank).
• Ensure compliance with internal and external requirements.
• Monitor regulatory changes and implement them in accounting.
• Identify compliance risks and implement improvements.

Tax

• Support CIT, VAT, WHT calculations and submission process.
• Develop role towards greater involvement in tax for Poland and CEE.

Processes and Improvements

• Identify areas for simplification (e.g., audit, month end closing process).

Collaboration and Projects

• Build strong relationships with FinOps COE Belgium, WSSC Poland, European Consolidation, BP&A teams.
• Participate in projects within Entity Finance COE.
• Share knowledge and best practices across EMEA.

Other duties as assigned and requested by manager

An ideal candidate should have:

• university degree in Economics, Accounting or Finance and
• 5–10 years of experience in financial accounting, including month-end and year-end close activities, financial reporting, account reconciliations and statutory financial statements preparation.

The candidate should possess an understanding of Polish GAAP, US GAAP as well as practical knowledge of VAT, CIT and WHT. The candidate should have experience working with external auditors, tax advisors and regulatory authorities.

Strong analytical skills, ability to work under pressure, attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines as well as identify and resolve financial discrepancies are essential.

The role also requires effective communication skills with fluency in both Polish and English. Proficiency in SAP S/4HANA and in Excel are required, experience with Blackline would be considered as advantage.
