Human & Hunter Professional is seeking an environmental protection and waste management specialist to join a small team that blends regulatory compliance with practical site solutions. The role involves collaborating with production sites in Poland and visits to the Czech Republic, focusing on turning environmental requirements into usable actions and by-product opportunities.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Monitor site operations for compliance with environmental legislation and permit conditions.
• Coordinate and verify environmental documents, measurements, data, and reports for authorities.
• Work with sites to interpret and implement environmental requirements in daily operations.
• Participate in environmental audits, inspections and reviews; prepare sites for regulatory inspections.
• Liaise with authorities, consultants, and partners on environmental matters.
• Analyse waste and by-product management options and identify recovery opportunities.
• Develop by-product utilisation opportunities and identify potential customers.
• Assess material properties for use in different processes.
• Verify feasibility (technical, regulatory, legal) of proposed solutions.

About the Role

We are looking for a professional who can combine knowledge of environmental protection and applicable regulations with a practical approach to waste management and the identification of new opportunities for by-product utilisation.

This role is suited to an independent specialist who can analyse environmental requirements, translate them into practical actions at industrial sites, and develop solutions that deliver both environmental and business benefits.

However, we do not expect expert-level knowledge across all these areas. You will join a two-person team whose members work closely together, share their knowledge, and support each other in delivering their responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Environmental Protection and Regulatory Compliance

• Monitoring the compliance of site operations with environmental legislation and the conditions of existing permits.
• Coordinating and verifying environmental documentation, measurements, data, and reports required by the relevant authorities.
• Working with operational sites to interpret and implement environmental requirements in day-to-day operations.
• Participating in environmental audits, inspections, and reviews, and supporting sites in preparing for regulatory inspections.
• Liaising with administrative authorities, environmental consultants, and other external stakeholders on environmental protection matters.

Waste Management and Developing By-product Utilisation Opportunities

• Analysing waste and by-product management options and identifying opportunities for recovery, recycling, and alternative uses.
• Exploring new applications for by-products, identifying potential customers, and developing opportunities in new markets.
• Working with operational teams and other specialists to assess material properties and their suitability for use in different processes and applications.
• Verifying the technical, regulatory, and legal feasibility of proposed solutions, including requirements relating to material classification and legal status.
• Conducting discussions and negotiations with material recipients, waste recovery and processing companies, and other potential partners.
• Identifying solutions that increase the practical and economic value of by-products, reduce waste volumes, and improve the efficiency of waste management.
• Supporting the implementation of developed solutions in cooperation with production sites and relevant internal teams.

Collaboration and Continuous Improvement in Environmental Performance

• Collaborating with Operations, Legal, Finance, and teams responsible for environmental protection and sustainability.
• Contributing to initiatives aimed at reducing the environmental impact of site operations, including emissions, water consumption, and waste generation.
• Sharing knowledge with other team members, providing mutual technical support, and flexibly taking on or handing over selected tasks depending on individual expertise and priorities.

Requirements

• Experience in a similar role involving environmental protection, waste management, or environmental compliance in an industrial environment.
• Very good command of English at C1 level, enabling fluent communication in an international working environment.
• Practical knowledge of environmental legislation and experience applying regulatory requirements in practice.
• Experience in at least one of the key areas of the role: environmental compliance and permitting, waste management, or material recovery and alternative utilisation.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate requirements and ideas into practical solutions.
• The ability to manage assigned responsibilities independently, excellent organisational skills, and a strong focus on seeing tasks through to completion.
• Willingness to travel for business, particularly to production sites in the Czech Republic. Travel may account for up to 50% of working time.
