Work with initiative owners, business architects and domain architects to analyse and decompose initiative requests into workable epics aligned with enterprise strategic business and technical goals. Transition architecture ownership to solutions architects for further decomposition.
Part of a central architecture organization for the largest portfolio at FedEx supporting systems for global operations. Architect key initiatives for the organization to drive business value.
Responsibilities / Essential Functions
- Responsible for providing options as part of architecture recommendation
- Translate business needs into conceptual and logical architecture (current and target state) and defining solutions to problems through application of information technology
- Facilitate the establishment and implementation of standards / guidelines for architecture deliverables
- Develop/document the framework for integration/implementation for changes to architectural standards
- Determine architecture solutions that meet performance, scalability, reliability and security needs
- Work with architects across the enterprise to provide enterprise business solutions
- Provide technical guidance to project team
- Coach the development of junior IT architects

Technical Proficiency
- Technical Knowledge: Broad understanding of AI, cloud computing (Azure, GCP), data management, application development, and security.
- Experience with Enterprise Architecture tools like LeanIX, SparxEA
- Strong understanding of cloud‑native architectures, including microservices, event‑driven, and serverless patterns
- Familiarity with cloud computing platforms notably GCP and Azure
- Expertise in common event processing stacks such as Kafka, Flink etc.
- Familiarity with modern programming languages like Java, Golang or Python
- Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines (Git, Azure DevOps)
- Experience with web service development (REST, GraphQL)
- Understanding of data modelling, database design, and query optimisation
- Experience with serverless design and low‑code platforms
- Knowledge of DevOps tools and processes
- Experience with cloud security best practices
