CD PROJEKT RED in Warsaw is seeking an Engineering Director to lead the gameplay systems for Hadar, driving innovation and a polished, open-world experience.

As a senior technical leader, you will shape architecture, mentor engineering managers and engineers, and ensure high-quality C++ code across disciplines while collaborating with art, design and production to realize the project vision.

Qualifications

• Min. 12 years professional experience with at least 5 years in a leadership role within games.
• Experience delivering AAA titles on consoles, debugging and profiling.
• Deep knowledge of C++, modern game systems architecture.

Job Description

CD PROJEKT RED is looking for an Engineering Director to join us in Warsaw and drive the gameplay systems of Hadar.

In this position, together with the rest of the team, you will help push the envelope for the next, immersive game in the Hadar world, creating an emotional, open-world experience that will stay with gamers. As an Engineering Director, you'll combine your leadership skills with your deep technical expertise to shape the future of our game systems, driving innovation and delivering unforgettable gaming experiences.

Daily Responsibilities

• Establish and oversee the architecture and technical strategy for game features and systems.
• Lead and mentor a team of talented engineering managers and engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
• Develop strategic plans for the engineering teams, including resource allocation, project timelines, and technology roadmaps.
• Collaborate closely with art, animation, design, production and other engineering teams to align gameplay features & systems with the creative vision for the project.
• Drive standards for clean, high-quality, and efficient C++ code, ensuring best practices in optimization, readability, and maintainability.
• Ensure thorough documentation, both in-code and for broader knowledge-sharing, enabling smooth onboarding and collaboration within the team and across departments.
• Direct efforts to proactively identify and resolve issues, ensuring that character systems contribute to an overall polished and performant product.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in gameplay technology and bring innovative ideas to the team.

Qualifications

• Min. 12 years professional experience and at least 5 years of experience within the games industry in a lead position.
• Experience in the full development process of an AAA title for game consoles, debugging, and profiling these games in a console environment.
• Proven track record in managing a team.
• Good knowledge of Unreal Engine 5 environment - especially features and systems related to the gameplay area.
• Practical knowledge of gameplay and backend features & systems implementation.
• Knowledge of modern game systems architecture.
• Deep knowledge of C++.
• Math & algorithmic skills.
• Good & practical knowledge of code parallelization.
• Experience working in an Agile development environment is a plus.
• Focused on delivering the best results.
• Good spirit and team player approach with a mindset geared towards adaptability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders in a multilingual environment.

Working mode

• In-office in a hybrid or full-time capacity in Warsaw, Poland. Relocation is required.

Estimated pay range for this position:50 900 – 69 960 PLN gross monthly. This role may be eligible for a long term incentive program (option to purchase CDPR stock after the vesting period). Final offers are dependent on job-related factors like experience and qualifications. Type of contract:Employment Contract ("Umowa o pracę").
