Job description

Position: Domain Architect – Diagnostics R&D

Senior-level role within the Strategy, Portfolio & Governance Enterprise Architecture Business Partnering Functions team, serving as the strategic liaison between the SPG EA organization and the Diagnostics R&D function.

Responsibilities

• Act as the principal orchestrator of the Diagnostics R&D architecture network, leading a federated team of domain and solution architects.
• Drive architecture governance, strategy formulation and enterprise coherence, translating business goals into adaptable, future‑ready roadmaps.
• Develop and maintain core architecture artifacts such as capability maps and target‑state architectures using the standard RDT toolchain.
• Partner with Portfolio Management to embed architectural insights into investment decisions, maximizing platform reuse and managing technical debt.
• Monitor emerging technology trends and evaluate vendors to keep the diagnostics architecture innovative and future‑ready.
• Oversee architecture governance activities, ensuring technology guardrails deliver security and resilience.
• Influence the federated RDT model, balancing enterprise coherence with local operational agility.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, translating complex architectural concepts into strategic narratives that guide decision‑making.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree with 7+ years of experience in IT and enterprise architecture within complex, matrixed, or federated global organizations.
• Deep domain experience in Diagnostics R&D, covering computational science, instrumentation, and both dry and wet laboratory operations.
• Proficient in cloud‑native technologies (AWS, microservices, event‑driven patterns) and modern data lakehouse architectures.
• Knowledge of regulatory compliance (IEC62304, 21CFRPart11, GxP) and ability to implement robust architecture without overly restrictive processes.
• Experience with AI/ML platform orchestration, emerging agentic patterns (MCP, A2A), and human‑in‑the‑loop design for scientific workflows.
• Technical fluency in integrating edge‑to‑cloud telemetry and instrument data acquisition across the OT/IT boundary.
• Strong application portfolio strategy skills, mapping dependencies and decommissioning legacy systems for business continuity.
• Excellent governance through influence, demonstrating leadership in federated networks and inspiring diverse partners.
• Executive presence and storytelling ability to communicate complex architectural concepts to senior leadership.
