Job summary

Akamai's Information Security team is seeking a Director of Information Security to lead a global team of security engineers and collaborate with product and platform teams to embed security across Akamai's cloud and edge platforms.

As Director, you will shape our security strategy, drive strategic projects, and partner with compliance to maintain certifications, while communicating with senior leaders and stakeholders globally.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required.
• Experience partnering with engineering orgs to integrate security into platforms and services.
• Proven track record in managing a technical team.

Responsibilities

Akamai's Information Security team is responsible for safeguarding Akamai, its customers, and the Internet worldwide. We are seeking a Director of Information Security to join our Security Engineering group to lead a team of security engineers as they work to help secure Akamai's global platforms and infrastructure.

Shape Internet security

Security Engineering works closely with Akamai's engineering teams throughout the company to help design and implement security controls that help keep Akamai, its employees and its customers safe. As a Director, you will be responsible for managing a global team of security engineers, defining our strategy for how we engage with other engineering organizations, and driving strategic projects.

As a Director Information Security, you will be responsible for:

• Defining and owning the security strategy for engaging with various platform engineering teams across the organization
• Developing trusted relationships with leaders and program management teams to understand their roadmaps
• Executing on roadmap for delivering security controls
• Helping identify and execute on opportunities to reduce information security risk
• Partnering with compliance stakeholders to help maintain Akamai's myriad compliance certifications
• Supporting subject matter experts in communicating security requirements and strategy across the organization
• Providing strategic leadership on the internal adoption of Akamai's commercial security product offerings

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have relevant experience and a Bachelor diploma or its equivalent
• Have experience partnering with engineering orgs to integrate security into both commercial off the shelf as well as bespoke internally developed platforms and services
• Have a proven track record in managing a technical team
• Understand security fundamentals and the role of security in the delivery of cloud platforms and services
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, etc. to contribute to the security of Akamai's systems
• Use your technical background in internet-, security-, and cryptographic protocols to guide your team
• Possess the ability to build partnerships with and communicate issues to senior technical leaders and business stakeholders.
