Job summary

GlaxoSmithKline is seeking a Director of Business Operations for Medical Writing to drive operational excellence and support leadership. This 24‑month fixed‑term role partners with the Medical Writing leadership to implement processes and dashboards, enabling performance and timely delivery of strategic programs.

You will lead business analyses, ROI assessments, stakeholder engagement, and cross‑functional collaboration, while guiding change management and project governance across the function.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years in a large pharma or CRO setting.
• 5+ years leading projects and managing change across multiple levels.
• 5+ years using data analytics to drive performance.
• Strong analytical skills and financial modelling experience.
• Expert project management with a track record of delivering results.
• Experience in strategic decision support and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead department strategy and operational plans with the Leadership Team.

Job Purpose

Are you energized by leading key activities to support the effective running of the GSK Medical Writing Function? If so, this Director Business Operations Medical Writing role could be an exciting opportunity to consider. This role will drive the implementation of Business Operations Excellence in Medical Writing to drive the function’s performance through the application of efficient and effective operational processes and support key projects. The Business Operations Director will be providing close support and thought partnership to the function’s leadership team. This is a 24 months fixed-term position, providing a unique opportunity to contribute to key strategic initiatives while gaining valuable experience within a global organization.

Key responsibilities

• Drive the implementation and monitoring of the department strategy and operational plans, organising and enabling maximum effectiveness of the Leadership Team
• Actively plan, facilitate and participate at Leadership Team meetings to ensure delivery of strategic and operational line needs and drive High Performing Teams behaviors
• Partner with the Leadership Team to develop and facilitate the execution of the department’s objectives
• Bring excellent judgment and relevant experience to bear on a constantly changing set of challenges and opportunities – large and small
• Regularly resolve ambiguous problems and challenges so that they can be effectively addressed
• Drive business benefit analyses including return-on-investment, problem solving or strategic thinking integrating key information to ensure on-time delivery of project or business milestones
• Drive development, interpretation and provision of key performance indicators and analyses including ensuring maintenance of departmental dashboards
• Contribute to day-to-day operational support to the department
• Actively support communications within and outside the department (i.e. workplace, Let’s Talk, etc.)
• Partner with Finance and prepare timely and accurate reports on financial performance
• Develop and implement stakeholder engagement strategy to influence decision making and behavior change to improve productivity
• Independently develop recommendations to enable informed decision making and driving business operations projects
• Understand and be able to influence the environment outside of the department to support achievement of the departmental objectives

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance or business administration
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in a large pharma organization, CRO in a corresponding role
• 5+ years project leadership and management skills
• 5+ years working with change management approaches on a range of projects / programs at multiple organizational levels
• 5+ years’ experience creating/using data analytics to drive performance
• Excellent analytical skills, with experience rapidly building and analyzing business plans & financial models
• Expert project management skills with a track record of managing multiple projects and driving results

• Ability to operate in a fast paced environment and the ability to discern when to act independently

Salary Range / Polski przedział wynagrodzenia

The annual gross base salary range for new hires in this position is listed above for each applicable location. These ranges take into account a number of factors including the candidate’s skills, experience, education level and the market rate for the role. In addition, this position may offer an annual bonus and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program which is dependent on the level of the role.
