Job summary

Fujitsu is seeking a hands-on Data Center technician to perform installation, commissioning, and lifecycle management of data center components in an on-site role. You will handle rack layouts, cabling, inventory, and basic networking tasks while coordinating with contractors and internal teams.

Strong documentation and adherence to change processes are essential. The role requires the ability to work across client sites in Poland and abroad, and a valid driving license.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on installation and commissioning of data center components and devices.
  • Knowledge of rack layouts, PDUs, cabling standards and labeling.
  • Basic networking: LAN, patching, switches.
  • Asset management and inventory systems knowledge; follow change processes.
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware components.

Responsibilities

  • Install & commission data center components, servers, and network switches.
  • Manage DC cabling, routing, labeling, and secure mounting.
  • Maintain DC store, manage deliveries, and lifecycle processes.
  • Perform regular inventory audits and report on capacity and health.
  • Coordinate hardware RMA with DC Contract Manager.
  • Plan rack layouts and oversee third-party contractors.
  • Maintain maintenance management systems and plan maintenance windows.
  • Prepare and execute changes to Data Center and IT core infrastructure.

DESCRIPTION OF THE TASKS

The selected candidate will perform the following typical tasks and responsibilities:

  • Installation & Commissioning: Physically installing Data Center components, servers, and network switches, and performing initial power-on tests.
  • Cabling Management: Owning the verification and upkeep of DC cabling, ensuring correct routing through designated pathways, secure mounting, and accurate end-to-end labeling for power and network runs.
  • Logistics & Lifecycle: Maintaining a tidy DC store, accepting deliveries, and owning the hardware lifecycle process, including commissioning and decommissioning.
  • Audit & Inventory: Performing regular inventory audits, updating asset registers, and providing detailed reporting on capacity and hardware health.
  • Hardware Maintenance: Replacing faulty components and managing the RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) process in cooperation with the DC Contract Manager.
  • Capacity Planning: Planning rack layouts and overseeing third-party contractors when requested.
  • Documentation: Actively maintaining the maintenance management system and preparing notifications for planned maintenance windows.
  • Infrastructure Changes: Preparing and performing changes to the Data Center and IT core infrastructure.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

The candidate should possess the following knowledge and skills:

  • Hands-on Experience: Practical experience with server and network device installation and proficiency in "Rack & Stack" procedures.
  • Infrastructure Standards: Understanding of rack layouts, PDUs, cabling standards, and labeling.
  • Networking Basics: Basic networking knowledge, including LAN, patching, and switches.
  • Operational Awareness: Familiarity with asset management, inventory systems, and the ability to follow change management and data center procedures.
  • Troubleshooting: Ability to perform basic troubleshooting of hardware components.
  • Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Reporting: Strong documentation and reporting skills.
SPECIFIC EXPERTISE (Mandatory)
  • Manual Handling: Proficiency in lifting heavy Data Center and IT equipment.
  • Environmental Stamina: Ability to work in a data center environment involving noise, cold, and confined spaces.
  • Mobility: Possession of a Driving license cat. B.
  • Ability to work between different client sites in Poland and abroad.
