Job summary

Hitachi Energy is seeking a highly motivated Data Scientist to join the Data Analytics team. You will work across engineering, technology, manufacturing, supply chain, and marketing & sales to deliver scalable ML solutions that drive business value.

You will work with large datasets, apply advanced statistical techniques, and leverage cloud platforms like Azure Databricks and Power BI to support growth and operational excellence. This role requires strong Python, SQL, and ML tooling experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative field (Data Science, CS, Math, Engineering).
• Strong hands‑on experience with Python and ML libraries (pandas, NumPy, scikit‑learn, XGBoost, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with large relational datasets.
• Proven experience developing, validating, and deploying ML models in business environments.
• Solid foundation in statistics, probability, hypothesis testing, experimental design, and model evaluation.
• Experience with Power BI, Azure, Azure Databricks, and cloud analytics environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, deployment, and improvement of ML models.
• Translate business challenges into scalable analytical solutions.
• Analyze large datasets to uncover trends and optimization opportunities.
• Apply statistical methods, hypothesis testing, and experimentation to problems.
• Build, validate, and optimize models for classification, regression, clustering, and forecasting.
• Define model success criteria, evaluation metrics, and validation approaches.
• Collaborate with data engineering on data prep and integration.
• Present insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
