Job description
Data Engineering Manager

Location: Katowice (hybrid model – 1–2 days per week in the office)

Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor a team of data engineers, setting priorities, guiding technical decisions, and fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.

  • Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture.

  • Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional and non-functional business requirements.

  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re‑designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.

  • Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and ‘big data’ technologies.

  • Build analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency, and other key business performance metrics.

  • Work with stakeholders including the Executive, Product, Data, and Design teams to assist with data‑related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.

  • Keep our data separated and secure across national boundaries through multiple data centers.

  • Create data tools for analytics and data science team members to assist them in building and optimizing our products into innovative industry leaders.

  • Work with data and analytics experts to strive for greater functionality in our data systems.

Our Requirements
  • Strong English skills, both spoken and written, are essential.

  • Proven experience in managing a data engineering team, setting priorities, and making key technical decisions.

  • Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience with relational databases, query authoring, and familiarity with various database systems.

  • Experience building and optimizing ‘big data’ pipelines, architectures, and data sets.

  • Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Strong analytical skills related to working with unstructured datasets.

  • Ability to build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency, and workload management.

  • A successful track record of manipulating, processing, and extracting value from large, disconnected datasets.

  • Working knowledge of message queuing, stream processing, and highly scalable ‘big data’ data stores.

  • Strong project management and organizational skills.

  • Experience supporting and collaborating with cross‑functional teams in a dynamic environment.

  • Solid understanding of data modelling techniques like Dimensional, Entity‑Relationship, Data Vault.

  • Experience using the following software/tools:

    • Snowflake

    • DBT

    • Airflow

    • AWS (Cloudformation, EKS, EC2, RDS, Lambda, SQS, SNS, API Gateway, etc.)

    • Real time data tools: Kafka, Storm, Spark Streaming, etc.

    • Python.

  • Willingness and ability to work in a hybrid model with 1–2 days per week on‑site in our Katowice office.
