Sii Poland is seeking a Data Engineer in Warsaw to modernize an investment bank's backend data processing platform. You will build scalable pipelines with Scala/Spark and Java, optimize Spark workloads, and collaborate with cross-functional teams in a hybrid work setting with 2–3 days in the office each week.

The role emphasizes data-driven development, ETL/ELT design, and delivering data solutions for banking systems while maintaining high code quality and CI practices.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of experience as a Data Engineer on large-scale data processing projects.
• Strong knowledge of Scala and Apache Spark.
• Practical Java experience and backend/data processing development.
• SQL and relational databases proficiency.
• Experience with distributed systems and Big Data environments.
• Fluent Polish and English, residency in Poland.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable data pipelines using Scala and Spark.
• Implement ETL/ELT processes for large data volumes.
• Develop and maintain data processing components in Java.
• Optimize Spark application performance and workflows.
• Integrate data from multiple sources for banking systems.
• Collaborate with Data Engineers, Developers, Analysts and business teams.
• Monitor code quality and CI processes.
