Customer Development Manager

Help shape how millions of shoppers discover and choose our brands. As a Customer Development Manager at Colgate-Palmolive, you’ll own the growth story for a portfolio of key retail accounts, turning insights into impactful plans across pricing, promotion, and in-store execution. If you thrive on analytics, collaboration, and winning with customers, this role is for you.

What you’ll do
Sales Strategy & Planning
  • Build and implement account-level sales strategies aligned with broader commercial plans.
  • Translate strategy into clear operational targets: pricing, distribution, shelf share, volume, profitability, and market share.
  • Manage customer P&L and track KPIs such as gross-to-net, margin, forecast accuracy, inventory levels, DSO, OOS, and promo ROI.
  • Analyze category trends, brand share, pricing, and promo activities to craft customer business plans balancing both CP and customer goals.
  • Partner with Retail Marketing and customers on the5Ps (product, price, placement, promotion,people) and drive perfect omnichannel visibilityto influence shopper behavior.
Sales Management & Execution
  • Optimize trade investment and develop effective promotions and in-store programs that drive consumption.
  • Monitor performance (sales, gross-to-net, working capital, and other indicators) and take action to course-correct.
  • Lead central and regional negotiations, run business reviews, and ensure follow-up with regional/divisional stakeholders.
  • Unlock supply chain and service efficiencies with tools and processes such as category management and EDI.
  • Leverage advanced information systems and analytical tools to inform day-to-day decisions and long‑term planning.
Compliance & Principles
  • Act in accordance with Competition Law, Rules of the Road, and Commercial Selling Principles.
What you’ll bring
  • Proven experience (3+ years) in customer/account management or sales within FMCG/CPG or a similarly fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into clear commercial actions.
  • Confident negotiator with a track record of building trusted, collaborative customer relationships.
  • Hands‑on experience with sales planning, trade spend optimization, and promotion evaluation.
  • Comfort with business analytics and tools (e.g., category management practices, EDI, dashboards).
  • A team‑first mindset—able to work cross‑functionally and align multiple stakeholders to a shared plan.
  • Drive for results, ownership, and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Fluent English; driving license; willingness to travel
  • Knowledge and background coming from studies in commercial fields
