Job summary

The City of Fort Worth is seeking a Crime Analyst to join our Police Department. This position will collect, categorize, analyze and disseminate information on crime patterns, trends and suspects, and will prepare crime and statistical reports using the department’s software.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in Police Science or Criminal Justice and two years of crime analysis experience, with preferred CAD/ARS/RMS, ArcGIS, Crystal Reports, and advanced MS Office skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Police Science, Criminal Justice, or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of crime analysis activities; read, interpret and summarize offense and other reports to obtain information about crimes committed.
  • Organize summarized information into clear reports; develop charts, graphs, maps, bulletins and related materials to present findings.
  • Determine criminal association and patterns; conduct background research on suspects; maintain intelligence files to recognize modus operandi.
  • Develop and produce crime maps using GIS; perform spatial analysis and present charts, graphs and reports.
  • Interact with Police personnel on research matters; respond to ad-hoc data requests.
  • Stay updated on new developments in crime analysis and incorporate them into programs.
