The team provides specialist onboarding, due diligence, and financial crime risk assessment support, working closely with Sales, Product, Legal, Risk, Compliance, and Operations. It supports the assessment of prospective clients, identifies and escalates financial crime risks, resolves due diligence requirements, and maintains clear, well-controlled processes that support timely, evidence-based onboarding approvals.

What a Compliance Due Diligence Associate Does At Visa

A Compliance Due Diligence Associate supports the onboarding of financial institution clients and network partners by completing customer due diligence, sanctions and adverse media screening, financial crime risk assessments, and regulatory checks. The role helps ensure onboarding approvals are supported by complete due diligence, clear risk-based rationale, and compliance with AML, CTF, sanctions, and wider financial crime requirements.

The Core Responsibilities For This Role Are As Follows
  • Conduct KYC and CDD and refresh reviews for financial institution clients, network partners, and other regulated entities.
  • Perform sanctions, PEP, adverse media, and internal watchlist screening, ensuring relevant matches are assessed, documented, and escalated where appropriate.
  • Assess ownership and control structures, licensing status, regulatory standing, products and services, jurisdictions, customer types, and expected activity.
  • Review due diligence documentation to confirm completeness, accuracy, and consistency with internal standards and regulatory expectations.
  • Analyze flow of funds, source of funds, expected transaction activity, and business model information to identify potential financial crime risk indicators.
  • Prepare clear risk assessments and onboarding recommendations for review and approval.
  • Escalate higher-risk relationships, unusual activity indicators, policy exceptions, or complex due diligence findings in line with internal procedures.
  • Support periodic KYC refreshes, remediation activity, audit requests, and regulatory enquiries where required.
  • Engage with clients, relationship managers, and internal stakeholders to obtain, clarify, and validate onboarding information.
  • Maintain accurate records, rationale, and supporting evidence in line with regulatory, audit, and internal documentation requirements.

We are currently operating a hybrid working policy, with the expectation being 3 days per week in the Warsaw office.

Qualifications
  • Demonstrable experience in AML, financial crime compliance, KYC, onboarding, due diligence, or risk management within financial services, payments, banking, or fintech.
  • Good understanding of AML, CTF, sanctions, KYC/CDD, enhanced due diligence, and financial crime regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of financial institution due diligence, including banks, payment service providers, EMIs, fintech's, and other regulated or complex entities.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret information, identify financial crime risk indicators, and document clear risk-based conclusions.
  • Ability to review corporate ownership structures, regulatory licenses, control frameworks, and complex business models.
  • Strong attention to detail, sound judgement, and an investigative mindset.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain due diligence requirements and risk findings to internal stakeholders and clients.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, work accurately to deadlines, and maintain quality while meeting agreed SLAs.
Preferred
  • ICA, ACAMS, or another recognized financial crime, compliance, or risk qualification.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience onboarding financial institutions, payment institutions, fintech's, correspondent partners, or complex corporate customers.
  • Experience conducting enhanced due diligence, reviewing financial crime control frameworks, or assessing higher-risk customer relationships.
