Job description

Working model: Hybrid — 6 days per month from the Kraków office

As a Cloud DevOps Engineer, you will work within an Agile team of Engineers and Operations professionals, building and managing highly resilient, scalable and high-performing GCP infrastructure in an automated and efficient way.

You will work closely with Application DevOps teams and cross-functional IT teams. The role requires a proactive approach, a willingness to innovate and the ability to investigate and adopt new products and services offered by GCP to achieve maximum performance.

Key responsibilities
  • Build and manage the GCP foundation platform to enable application deployments.
  • Engineer solutions on the GCP foundation platform using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) methods, such as Terraform.
  • Integrate, configure, deploy and manage centrally provided cloud services, including IAM, networking, logging, operating systems and containers.
  • Manage SDN in GCP.
  • Consume centrally agreed Hardened OS environments, including Linux and Windows.
  • Ensure compliance with centrally defined Security requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with Operational Risk standards, including network, firewall, OS, logging, monitoring, availability and resiliency.
  • Build and support Continuous Integration (CI), Continuous Delivery (CD) and Continuous Testing activities.
  • Implement centrally provided patches.
  • Support non-functional testing.
  • Maintain support and operational documentation as required.
  • Troubleshoot issues and provide support to Application teams.
  • Ensure effective Change Management practices in line with central standards.
  • Provide impact assessments for proposed changes to the GCP core platform.
  • Participate in a rotational on-call schedule, providing out-of-hours support as part of our 24/7 coverage.
Qualifications and experience

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience building a range of services with a Cloud Service Provider, ideally GCP.
  • Expert understanding of DevOps principles and Infrastructure as Code concepts and techniques.
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD and available tools.
  • Experience configuring SDN within a Cloud Service Provider, including VPCs and XPN.
  • Good understanding of physical networking, including subnets, NAT and routing.
  • Knowledge of Security and Compliance, including IAM, ADFS, OAuth and cloud compliance, auditing and monitoring tools.
  • Strong customer and stakeholder focus, with the ability to build strong relationships with Application teams and cross-functional, global and local IT teams.
  • Good leadership and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in an Agile environment with Application DevOps pods and provide the GCP-specific capabilities required to deliver the service.
  • Strong focus on operational effectiveness and delivering solutions aligned with approved design patterns and security standards.
  • Experience with full automation and configuration management.
  • A track record of continuously looking for ways to improve processes and a strong understanding of the mechanisms required to successfully implement change.
  • Experience setting and achieving challenging short-, medium- and long-term goals that exceed standards in the field.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and effectively to a wide range of audiences.
  • The ability to build effective networks across business areas and develop relationships based on mutual trust.
  • A successful track record of delivering complex projects and/or programmes using appropriate techniques and tools to ensure and measure success.
  • A comprehensive understanding of risk management and proven experience ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory processes.
Essential skills
  • Demonstrable Cloud Service Provider experience, ideally GCP, including infrastructure build and configuration of services such as Compute, Storage and SDN (VPC and XPN).
  • Demonstrable experience in Linux administration and scripting, preferably Red Hat.
  • Experience working with Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery and Continuous Testing tools.
  • Experience working within an Agile environment.
  • Server administration experience with either Linux or Windows.
  • Experience with automation scripting using tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
  • Ability to quickly acquire new skills and tools.
  • GCP Certifications, ideally Professional level.
  • Windows Server Certification.
  • Experience working in a highly regulated industry, e.g. Financial Services.
