Job summary

Arise App seeks a CTO who will own and architect our iOS app and build the Android app from scratch. You will drive a unified technical vision, leverage AI-driven workflows, and ship high-quality code today while shaping the app for years ahead.

You will lead cross-platform architecture, collaborate with design for a superb user experience, and help monetize the product used by millions. This is a remote-first, full-time role in a fast-growing weight-loss app with global reach.

Qualifications

• Proven track record shipping production mobile apps (iOS & Android).
• Ability to own a mature codebase end-to-end and make hard structural calls.
• Experience building an Android app from scratch to a high standard.

Arise is a globally active weight-loss app with over 10 million downloads and a 4.6 rating on the App Store. Our mission is simple but ambitious: empower millions of people to become healthier and happier.

We're looking for a CTO who is a true architect on both iOS and Android — someone deeply skilled in iOS who can take full ownership of our existing app and raise it further, and who can also build our Android app from scratch. You'll develop primarily through AI rather than by hand, and you'll thrive on ownership, precision, and long-term thinking. This role is for someone who ships high-quality code today while foreseeing how today's decisions shape the app for years ahead — technically, strategically, and financially.

Today Arise is iOS-only, so this is where you'll start and where you'll prove yourself: owning, deepening, and future-proofing a mature codebase used by millions. From there, you'll architect and build our Android app from the ground up.

Your Role

• Own and architect the existing iOS app — maintain, optimize, deepen, and future-proof a codebase used by millions.
• Build the Arise Android app from scratch — architecture, delivery, and long-term ownership.
• Ensure cross-platform consistency and a coherent technical vision across both platforms.
• Develop and test features that enhance the Arise experience.
• Use AI agents and automated workflows as your primary means of building, testing, and shipping — not as an occasional helper.
• Anticipate technical pitfalls and proactively design solutions.
• Collaborate with design to refine usability for a smooth user experience.
• Support monetization by integrating features with measurable business impact.

Requirements

• Proven track record architecting and shipping production mobile apps, ideally as a senior engineer, lead, or technical founder.
• Deep, architect-level iOS expertise — you can own a mature codebase end to end and make the hard structural calls with confidence.
• Demonstrated ability to build an Android app from scratch to the same standard.
• Hands-on fluency building through AI — agentic coding tools, LLM-driven workflows, automated testing and release. You've actually shipped this way, not just experimented.
• Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
• Comfortable working fully in English.

Technical Skills

• Expert-level iOS/Swift — architecture, patterns, performance, and the judgment to keep a large app maintainable as it grows.
• Strong Android development (Kotlin) with the ability to architect a new app end to end.
• Familiarity with mobile build and release tooling (e.g. Fastlane).
• Deep understanding of Apple and Android design principles, patterns, and best practices.
• Ability to write clean, well-documented, maintainable code — and to direct AI to do the same.
