TEKsystems in Warsaw, Poland is seeking a Backend Developer to join a cross-functional team building secure, cloud-native banking services. This 12-month contract offers a predominantly remote work model with only 2 days onsite per month in Warsaw.

The role focuses on Java development, Spring Boot, AWS, and microservices. You will design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend services, collaborating with product managers, QA, and design teams in an agile environment.

Qualifications

Strong commercial experience with Java development.
Deep knowledge of Spring Boot and/or Micronaut.
Experience designing RESTful APIs and microservices.
Understanding of distributed systems and design patterns.
Experience with AWS services and cloud-native architectures.
Hands-on Kubernetes and Docker experience.
Experience in Agile delivery environments.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.

Responsibilities

Produce clean, maintainable, reusable, and well-documented code.

Description

We are partnering with one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in seeking a highly skilled Backend Engineer to join one of our cross-functional product teams responsible for building and scaling next-generation Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS) capabilities. The successful candidate will help design, develop, and maintain secure, cloud-native backend systems that power customer-facing financial products and services.

This is a 12-month contract with a strong likelihood of extension, offering a predominantly remote working model with just 2 days onsite per month in Warsaw, Poland.

Key Responsibilities

Software Engineering

Design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality backend services and APIs.
Produce clean, maintainable, reusable, and well-documented code.
Build highly available, resilient, and scalable microservices.
Develop event-driven solutions using modern messaging technologies.
Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to technical decision-making.

Cloud & Infrastructure

Develop and deploy applications within AWS cloud environments.
Support containerised workloads using Kubernetes and Docker.
Contribute to infrastructure automation and DevOps best practices.
Ensure observability, monitoring, and operational excellence across services.

Collaboration & Delivery

Work closely with Product Managers, Engineers, QA Engineers, Designers, and Business Stakeholders.
Participate in Agile ceremonies including stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and technical refinement sessions.
Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across engineering teams.

Technical Leadership

Act as a subject matter expert within the engineering team.
Mentor junior developers and support knowledge sharing.
Promote engineering standards, code review best practices, and software craftsmanship.
Drive innovation and continuous improvement within the backend engineering chapter.
