Job summary

DICK'S Sporting Goods is seeking an Assistant Buyer to collaborate with merchants on merchandise assortments and financials. The role involves in-season category ownership, planning, and coordinating store-level floor plans and reports.

The ideal candidate has 1-3 years of experience, a Bachelor's degree in marketing/merchandising or a related field, and previous Assistant Buyer experience is preferred. This position is based in Warsaw, with standard in-store responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist merchants in in-depth development of merchandise assortments by category and apply financials.
• Own in-season category performance by monitoring results and recommending actions to drive sales and margin.
• Prepare and maintain merchandise floor plans, game plans, reports and receipts for stores.
• Communicate inventory quantities and orders to Allocations & Planning for planned sales initiatives.
• Research market data to explain trends and anticipate opportunities or ideas.
• Manage store communications regarding initiatives across departments.
• Train and mentor Merchandise Administrators, MTPs, and Interns.

OVERVIEW:

Role Responsibilities:

• Assist the merchants in the in-depth development of merchandise assortments by category, collaborating on every aspect of the process. Sit with the merchant to go through the Merchandise Assortment Process and apply financials.

• Assume responsibility of in-season category ownership by monitoring performance, identifying opportunities and barriers and making recommendations to drive for business results (buy more of/cancel future orders/price changes).

• Prepare and maintain recommended merchandise floor plans and game plans for the store locations. Ensure accuracy of merchandising reports, assortment sheets, and receipts.

• Recommend and communicate inventory quantities, levels and orders to the Allocations & Planning Departments in support of planned sales for our strategic initiatives.

• Research economic, financial, market, competitive and industry data to explain current business trends and anticipate new trends or big ideas; including market visits

• Manage store communication regarding initiatives (varies by dept.)

• Trains and mentors Merchandise Administrators, MTPs, and Interns.
