Job summary

Fortum is seeking an AP Accountant for a temporary maternity cover role based in Gdańsk. You will manage end-to-end accounts payable processes, including invoices with or without purchase orders, payment file preparation, and AP reporting to ensure compliance with laws and policies.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years in Accounts Payable, a Finance/Accounting degree, strong English and Polish, and solid MS Office skills.

• 3–5 years of experience in Accounts Payable.
• Good understanding of the S2P (Source-to-Pay) process.
• Strong English and Polish communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Handle daily activities in Purchase Invoices & Accounts Payable per policies and SLAs.
• Process invoices with or without purchase orders through to AP.
• Analyze, close, reconcile, and report accounts payable.
• Prepare payment files from AP and payment orders.
• Co-develop S2P efficiency improvements and support suppliers and stakeholders.

We are looking for an AP Accountant to join our performance- and development-oriented multinational AP team, which provides in-house AP services across Fortum. This position is a temporary maternity cover role based in our Gdańsk office, where the AP team is located.

As an AP Accountant, you will play an important role in ensuring efficient and high-quality accounts payable processes while collaborating with colleagues across the organization.

About the role

• Daily activities within Purchase Invoices & Accounts Payable Process in compliance with laws, corporate policies and service-level-agreements.
• Processing purchase invoices (with or without purchase orders) workflow till accounts payable.
• Analyzing, closing, reconciling & reporting accounts payable.
• Preparation of payment files from accounts payable & payment orders.
• Co-develop S2P process efficiency & effectiveness according to existing AP objectives.
• Collaborating with other service teams, accounting experts and business representatives.
• Service-oriented co-operation & support for suppliers, internal stakeholders (customer), auditors etc.
• Identifying potential process, procedure & task developments.

As a member of development-oriented multinational AP team you have possibility to develop personally by participating in initiatives and projects (often of multinational nature) according to your skills and career interests from the very beginning.

About you
You are detail-oriented, collaborative, and comfortable working in an international environment.

We also expect that you have:

• A degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in Accounts Payable.
• Good understanding of the S2P (Source-to-Pay) process.
• Strong communication skills in both English and Polish.
• Good knowledge of MS Office tools.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• A customer-focused and team-oriented mindset.
• Knowledge of Polish accounting rules and regulations, with experience in supporting Polish entities in Accounts Payable is considered as a plus.
