Role summary

We are hiring a WordPress Developer to build, customize, and maintain WordPress websites and plugins for enterprise and agency clients. The role requires clean, secure code, responsive design, performance optimization and clear handover documentation. You will work within a small technical team alongside project managers and business development to deliver production-ready sites.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and customize WordPress themes and plugins using PHP, HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
• Implement responsive, accessible front-end layouts and ensure cross-browser compatibility.
• Integrate third-party APIs, payment gateways, headless CMS setups, and page builders as required.
• Optimize site performance: caching, image optimization, asset minification and bundling.
• Implement WordPress security best practices: sanitization, nonces, capability checks, and hardening.
• Perform code reviews, troubleshoot production issues, and fix bugs reported by QA or clients.
• Write technical documentation and deployment notes; communicate technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.

Job Specification

• Must-have: Strong WordPress development (custom themes, plugin development, hooks, filters, WP REST API).
• Proficient in PHP (object-oriented), modern JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5 and CSS3.
• Experience with Gutenberg blocks and/or page builders (Elementor, WPBakery) and building custom blocks.
• Familiarity with headless WordPress setups, RESTful APIs and integrating third-party services (payment gateways, CRM, analytics).
• Solid knowledge of responsive design, accessibility fundamentals and cross-browser debugging.
• Experience with Git workflows, branching strategies and deployment pipelines; staging and production environments.
• Performance optimization: caching strategies, image optimization, critical CSS, asset bundling tools.
• Security best practices for WordPress: sanitization, nonces, capability checks, plugin/theme hardening.
• Ability to write technical documentation and communicate with non-technical stakeholders.
