Job summary

Soum is a fast-growing re-commerce startup in the MENA region, building a trusted marketplace for second-hand goods. This role of Strategic Finance Manager focuses on planning, forecasting, KPI governance, and strategic modeling to scale the business.

The position is remote with a Sunday–Thursday work week and 9:00 AM–6:00 PM (AST). You will partner with the CFO, lead automation of reporting, and mentor the finance team as Soum accelerates expansion.

Qualifications

• Strong financial modeling and forecasting capabilities.
• Experience building dashboards and analyzing business KPIs.
• Strong understanding of startup finance, budgeting, cash flow and metrics.
• Comfortable operating in a fast-moving startup environment.
• Ownership mindset with ability to work independently.
• Experience using automation, AI tools, or workflow optimization solutions is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain annual budget and 13-week cash forecast, updated weekly.
• Own KPI dashboards (GMV, take rate, CM, CAC, payback); publish weekly metrics.
• Conduct monthly spend reviews; analyze variances and root causes.
• Model unit economics for initiatives, pricing, and expansion; use AI for scenarios; present to CFO.
• Prepare investor updates, board packs, fundraising models; support data room prep.
• Handle ad hoc finance requests; manage Finance Analyst; drive automation.

Role & Responsibilities

• Financial Planning & Forecasting Build and maintain Soum 's annual operating budget and rolling 13-week cash flow forecast, updated weekly.
• KPI Ownership & Reporting Own KPI dashboards covering GMV, take rate, contribution margin, CAC, and payback period. Publish weekly metrics with clear commentary.
• Budgeting & Spend Management Conduct monthly spend reviews across departments. Identify budget variances and provide root-cause analysis.
• Strategic Finance & Modeling Model unit economics for new initiatives, pricing, and expansion opportunities. Use AI tools for scenario analysis and present recommendations to the CFO.
• Investor & Board Reporting Prepare investor updates, board materials, and management presentations. Maintain fundraising models with scenario and sensitivity analysis. Support financing data room preparation.
• Operational Finance & Leadership Respond to ad hoc finance requests from the CFO and board. Manage the Finance Analyst for reporting and dashboard maintenance. Improve efficiency by reducing manual reporting through automation and tools.

Requirements

• Strong financial modeling and forecasting capabilities.
• Experience building dashboards and analyzing business KPIs.
• Strong understanding of startup finance, budgeting, cash flow management, and operational metrics.
• Comfortable operating in a fast-moving startup environment.
• Strong ownership mindset with the ability to work independently.
• Experience using automation, AI tools, or workflow optimization solutions is highly preferred.

Experience

• 3-5 years of experience in Strategic Finance, FP&A, Corporate Finance, Investment Banking, Consulting, or startup finance.
• Strong background in financial planning, forecasting, and business performance analysis.
• Startup, marketplace, fintech, or e-commerce experience is preferred.
