Job summary

iQansoft is seeking a Staff Lead Automotive E-commerce Platform Engineer to own architecture and delivery for a multi-site platform with 2.5M+ products. You will directly contribute to production code, data pipelines, and platform modernization while mentoring engineers and partnering with product, SEO, merchandising, and business teams.

Qualifications

• Documented hands-on experience with production-grade TypeScript, React, Next.js and data pipelines.
• Experience designing large-scale e-commerce search and data platforms.
• Strong background in PostgreSQL data modeling, ETL/ELT, and data quality.

Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and operate five high-traffic e-commerce sites using TS/Next.js.
• Design SEO-ready SSR, caching, routing, and sitemaps for large catalogs.
• Ingest supplier data via FTP/SFTP, APIs, and batch feeds with near-real-time updates.
• Build robust data pipelines with validation, lineage, and rollback capabilities.
• Model and normalize ACES/PIES, vehicle fitment, pricing, and inventory data.
• Design PostgreSQL models and search indexing with Elasticsearch/OpenSearch/Algolia.
• Improve search relevance, facets, synonyms, and zero-downtime reindexing.
• Integrate automotive data APIs with rate limiting, retries, and versioning.
• Own checkout, payments, orders, pricing, and inventory reliability and security.
• Develop and maintain Sanity CMS schemas and publishing workflows.
• Establish automated testing, CI/CD, observability, SLOs, and incident response.

Description

iQansoft is looking for a Staff Lead Automotive E-commerce Platform Engineer to take ownership of the architecture, development, and evolution of a large-scale, multi-site automotive e-commerce platform.

The platform supports 2.5+ million products across five live websites, requiring high reliability and accuracy across product data, vehicle fitment, supplier feeds, pricing, inventory, search, SEO, assets, checkout, and order management.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role. The successful candidate will contribute directly to production code, architecture, data pipelines, search infrastructure, and platform modernization while mentoring engineers and collaborating with product, SEO, merchandising, and business stakeholders.

The role requires strong experience with TypeScript, React, Next.js, PostgreSQL, search technologies, data engineering, cloud infrastructure, and high-traffic e-commerce systems, along with the ability to lead technical decisions and deliver solutions in a complex environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and operate five high-traffic e-commerce websites using TypeScript and Next.js.
• Design and optimize SSR, caching, routing, revalidation, canonicalization, redirects, sitemaps, and structured data for large-scale SEO.
• Design and improve supplier data ingestion through FTP/SFTP, APIs, batch feeds, and near-real-time integrations.
• Build reliable data pipelines with validation, idempotency, lineage, replay, reconciliation, and rollback capabilities.
• Model and normalize ACES/PIES, vehicle fitment, year-make-model data, brands, part numbers, attributes, pricing, inventory, images, and supersessions.
• Design and maintain PostgreSQL data models and search indexing using Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, and/or Algolia.
• Improve search relevance, faceting, synonyms, vehicle filtering, index freshness, and zero-downtime reindexing.
• Integrate automotive data APIs and supplier systems with appropriate rate limiting, retries, pagination, schema versioning, and contract testing.
• Own technical aspects of checkout, payments, orders, pricing, and inventory systems, ensuring reliability, security, and auditability.
• Develop and maintain Sanity CMS schemas and publishing workflows, while keeping editorial and transactional data properly separated.
• Establish and improve automated testing, CI/CD, observability, SLOs, incident response, and production support practices.
• Lead architecture reviews and technical decisions while documenting trade-offs and technical direction.
• Mentor engineers, improve coding standards, manage technical debt, and contribute to hiring and team development.
• Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Documented experience owning a production catalog, search index, or data platform with at least 1 million products or similarly complex records.
• Hands-on ACES/PIES, automotive fitment, or equivalent compatibility-domain experience involving complex many-to-many relationships.
• Deep production experience with TypeScript, React, Next.js SSR and hybrid rendering, backend services, and API integrations.
• Strong data-engineering skills across PostgreSQL, ETL/ELT, schema design, normalization, data quality, reconciliation, and large incremental updates.
• Production search experience with Elasticsearch or OpenSearch and/or Algolia, including index design, relevance, facets, aliases, and no-downtime reindexing.
• Experience operating high-traffic e-commerce systems covering discovery, pricing, inventory, checkout, payments, and orders.
• AWS, Vercel, Docker, CI/CD, observability, security, and incident-response experience.
• Staff-level technical leadership: architecture ownership, mentoring, cross-team influence, written decisions, and delivery through ambiguity.
• Clear spoken and written English and dependable overlap with defined North American business hours.
