Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Engineer to join the HWL (Hardware Layer) Camera Software team. This role focuses on developing and optimizing embedded software for camera systems in Automotive, Mobile, and XR platforms. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in camera driver development, embedded systems, and image processing, along with strong debugging and system-level design skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop embedded software for camera subsystems across Auto, Mobile, and XR platforms.
  • Implement and optimize camera drivers, including V4L2 and HAL layers.
  • Collaborate with global teams and external customers for feature development and issue resolution.
  • Drive power and performance optimization for camera pipelines.
  • Develop and maintain unit test frameworks and validation tools.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Support customer engagements, including occasional onsite visits.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics, or related field.
  • 9+ years of experience in embedded software development.
  • Proficiency in C/C++, with strong debugging and problem‑solving skills.
  • In-depth understanding of Operating System fundamentals (e.g., memory management, threading, scheduling).
  • Experience with RTOS, memory/cache systems, and interrupt handling.
  • Hands‑on experience with camera sensors, image processing algorithms, and camera frameworks.
  • Familiarity with Yocto, Linux kernel, and Android Camera HAL.
  • Proven ability to debug real‑time issues such as memory corruption, ANRs, and race conditions.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with camera sensor bring‑up, 3A algorithms, and IQ tuning.
  • Knowledge of unit testing frameworks like GoogleTest or CPPTest.
  • Exposure to SoC architecture, camera pipelines, and memory subsystems.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Software Engineering experience.
  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years of Software Engineering experience.
  • PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering experience.
  • 2+ years of work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
