Job description

About AHOY: AHOY is a pioneering tech company dedicated to developing innovative solutions that address the complexities of modern business logistics. We specialize in creating systems that streamline processes, enhance efficiency, and ultimately simplify cross-border shipping for our clients. Our vibrant culture promotes collaboration and creativity, allowing our team to drive impactful changes in the logistics industry.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Product Manager / Product Lead for our Cross-Border Shipping initiative at AHOY. In this role, you will take charge of our product strategy, from ideation to execution, ensuring that our offerings meet the dynamic needs of the market. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of shipping and logistics, exceptional leadership skills, and a track record of successful product management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own the roadmap & PRDs: Define outcomes, write clear PRDs, manage backlog, and run sprint rituals with engineering/UX.
  • Customer discovery & PMF: Interview SMB/B2B shippers, map JTBD, prioritize corridors/lane coverage, and validate problems fast.
  • Shipping & IOR/EOR flows: Build landed-cost (duties/taxes) and HS-code assist, DDP/DAP selection, document packs, digital PoA, and customs compliance checks.
  • Integrations: Lead carrier/aggregator, customs broker, IOR/EOR provider, payments/FX, sanctions screening, and e-commerce plugins (Shopify/Woo) integrations.
  • Data & experiments: Define event schema, instrument funnels, run weekly experiments (pricing, activation, UX), and publish dashboards.
  • Pricing & unit economics: Model contribution margin per shipment and merchant; run A/B pricing tests; optimize GP/shipment and attach rate of IOR/EOR.
  • GTM & partnerships: Coordinate merchant pilots, referrals, partner co-marketing, and provider scorecards; support sales enablement and onboarding.
  • Ops & reliability: Define SLAs, exception playbooks (holds/returns/claims), security & audit trails, and incident response with engineering.
  • Governance: Drive weekly product council and monthly “board‑style” reviews; communicate decisions, risks, and progress.
Success looks like (core KPIs you’ll own)
  • North Star: Gross Profit per Active Merchant (GPAM).
  • Quote→Shipment conversion, IOR/EOR attach rate, GM per shipment, customs clearance success %, exception resolution time.
  • Activation/retention: time‑to‑first‑shipment, M1/M3 retention, cohort GP.
  • Experiment velocity: ≥4 meaningful tests/month with learnings shipped.
Expectations and Requirements
  • 30 days: Complete discovery; agree KPIs; publish MVP PRD & analytics spec; line up pilot merchants & providers for 1–2 corridors.
  • 60 days: Deliver core quoting/booking + IOR/EOR attach; run first pricing/UX experiments; start pilot and report conversion/GM.
  • 90 days: Harden ops/SLA, automate key docs/labels, ship merchant plugin v1, and launch publicly with a quarterly roadmap.
Qualifications
  • 6–10+ years in Product Management; at least 3+ years in logistics, marketplaces, fintech, or compliance‑heavy platforms.
  • Hands‑on with cross‑border/e‑commerce shipping, Incoterms (DDP/DAP), HS codes, and ideally IOR/EOR models.
  • Strong API/platform integration chops (carrier/broker/payment/tax/identity); comfortable with Postman, reading API docs, and sequencing integrations.
  • Data‑driven: funnel analytics, cohort/retention, margin modeling; working knowledge of SQL or a BI tool (Amplitude/Mixpanel/GA4/Looker).
  • Excellent PRD writing, stakeholder management, and agile delivery; can turn ambiguity into crisp, testable bets.
Bonus
  • Experience with Shopify/WooCommerce apps, sanctions/KYC/KYB flows, MENA/EU lanes, Arabic a plus.
Tools you’ll use
  • Jira/Asana, Figma, Postman, Amplitude/Mixpanel/GA4, Looker/Metabase, Notion/Confluence, GitHub, feature flags/LaunchDarkly (or similar).
