Job summary

Indus Hospital in Karachi seeks a Senior Officer - Biomedical Buying to lead procurement of biomedical equipment, reagents and related services. You will collaborate with Bio-Medical, Pathology and Radiology teams to define specifications and ensure compliant sourcing.

The role requires 3–4 years in healthcare procurement, a relevant bachelor’s degree (Masters preferred) and strong negotiation skills. It is based in Karachi with onsite operations and cross-functional coordination.

Qualifications

• 3-4 years of healthcare procurement experience in biomedical and lab categories.
• Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Life Science, Supply chain or related field; Masters preferred.

Responsibilities

• Procure biomedical equipment, lab instruments, reagents, diagnostics, consumables and services.
• Collaborate with Bio-Medical, Pathology, Radiology and other user departments on specs and usage needs.
• Source vendors locally and internationally in line with hospital policies and regulations.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, delivery, and SLAs; evaluate quotations and issue POs via ERP.
• Coordinate with logistics, warehousing and biomedical engineering for delivery, installation and commissioning.
• Track service contracts, warranties and maintenance agreements.
• Maintain vendor profiles, contracts, certificates (CE/ISO/FDA) and DRAP/import compliance.
• Support CAPEX and OPEX procurement planning for biomedical and diagnostic items.
• Conduct market research on products, vendors and pricing trends.
• Ensure donor/regulatory/institutional procurement policy compliance for grants.
• Participate in vendor evaluations and procurement audits.

Job Description

• Manage the procurement of biomedical equipment, lab instruments, reagents, diagnostic kits, consumables, and related services/spare parts.
• Collaborate with user departments (Bio-Medical, Pathology, Radiology, etc.) to understand technical specifications and usage requirements.
• Source qualified vendors for both local and international procurement in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and service-level agreements (SLAs). Evaluate and process quotations, technical bids, comparative statements, and issue Purchase Orders (POS) through ERP or procurement systems.
• Coordinate with logistics, warehousing, and biomedical engineering teams to ensure timely deliveries, installation, and commissioning.
• Track and manage service contracts, warranties, preventive maintenance schedules, and AMC/CMC agreements.
• Maintain updated documentation of vendor profiles, contracts, certificates (e.g., CE, ISO, FDA), and compliance with DRAP/import requirements.
• Support CAPEX and OPEX procurement planning related to biomedical and diagnostic categories.
• Conduct market research to stay informed about product innovations, new vendors, and pricing trends.
• Ensure compliance with donor, regulatory, and institutional procurement policies, especially for grant-funded items.
• Participate in vendor evaluations and procurement audits.
