Volante seeks an experienced Senior AI/Backend Engineer based in Pakistan to architect, deploy, and scale backend services integrated with modern AI/ML systems. You will work closely with US stakeholders across time zones and participate in daily standups, architecture reviews, and live pair programming.

We are seeking an experienced Senior AI/Backend Engineer based in Pakistan to architect, deploy, and scale robust backend services integrated with modern AI/ML systems.

Because our core team operates in the United States, significant overlap with US business hours (EST/PST) is required.

You will actively participate in daily standups, architectural discussions, sprint demos, and live pair programming.

Exceptional, fluent spoken and written English is a strict, non-negotiable requirement.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and maintain production-grade backend APIs and microservices.
• Integrate and deploy machine learning models, LLMs, and vector search pipelines into live applications.
• Design CI/CD workflows and manage cloud infrastructure across development, staging, and production environments.
• Optimize latency, throughput, and reliability of high-volume distributed systems.
• Collaborate daily in real-time meetings with US-based product managers, frontend engineers, and stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

• Experience: 5+ years of professional backend engineering experience with hands‑on AI/ML integration.
• Communication: Fluent verbal and written English (C1/C2 level). Must articulate technical concepts clearly over live video calls without hesitation.
• Schedule Availability: Able to consistently work during US daytime hours (EST/PST) for team syncs, handoffs, and live reviews.
• Backend: Advanced proficiency in Python (FastAPI, Django, Flask) or modern Go/Node.js.
• AI / ML: Practical experience with LLM orchestration (LangChain, LlamaIndex), foundational APIs, embeddings, and vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, pgvector, or Milvus).
• DevOps & Cloud: Hands‑on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI), and major cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Databases: Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL, Redis, and schema design for transactional and analytical workloads.
• System Design: Solid understanding of event‑driven architectures (Kafka, RabbitMQ), RESTful design, and gRPC.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience deploying self‑hosted open‑source models (vLLM, Ollama, Triton Inference Server).
• Familiarity with infrastructure‑as‑code tools (Terraform, Pulumi).
• Prior track record working remotely with US‑based engineering teams.

Job Specification

Strong professional Python development skills, including experience building backend services and APIs.
