Job summary

Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) is seeking Research Assistants for a lab-in-the-field experimental project in Lahore. You will work with a collaborative team across data collection stages, from session logistics to final data handling, supporting a study conducted with international collaborators.

Successful candidates will be available across late Sept 2026 to Jan 2027, attend pre-fieldwork trainings at LUMS, and contribute to high-quality data coding and organization in Urdu

About the Role
Dr. Warda Riaz (Department of Economics, LUMS) is recruiting a team of Research Assistants for a lab-in-the-field experimental research project, conducted in collaboration with colleagues from the University of East Anglia and Qatar University. RAs will work closely with the research team across all stages of data collection — from session logistics to final data handling.

Responsibilities

• Managing and running experimental sessions with participants
• Coordinating logistics and scheduling for fieldwork sessions
• Collecting data accurately and consistently, following study protocols
• Coding and cleaning data (quantitative and qualitative) in both Urdu and English
• Handling and organizing data files with care for accuracy and confidentiality
• Providing general research and administrative support as needed
• Attending mandatory training sessions ahead of fieldwork

Engagement period: Late September 2026 - January 2027 Application deadline: Rolling basis; priority deadline September 25, 2026; Final deadline September 30 2026.

Requirements

• Full availability, with NO fixed schedule, throughout the entire engagement period (late September 2026 - January 2027) is essential. Fieldwork will total 12-15 days, but these days are NOT clustered or predictable - they may fall on ANY dates across this four-month window, based on the study's requirements. Applicants must be able to commit to being called upon at short notice, at any point during this period, for both individual fieldwork days and training sessions. This is a non-negotiable requirement - please do not apply if you have fixed commitments (e.g., classes, another job, travel plans) that would prevent you from being available on short notice across these months.
• Must attend the 1-2 pre-fieldwork training sessions, which may also be scheduled on any dates within the engagement period. These will be conducted at LUMS.
• Comfortable working with data coding and handling in both Urdu and English
• Reliable, responsible, and detail-oriented, with strong organizational skills
• Comfortable working directly with participants in a field setting in Lahore
• Prior experience with survey/fieldwork or research assistantship is a plus, but not required - we welcome applications from motivated candidates without prior experience
