Job summary

A leading paint manufacturer in Lahore is seeking a QC Chemist to ensure quality and performance of raw materials and finished products. Responsibilities include inspecting raw materials, testing batches, maintaining quality records, and supporting production. Ideal candidates hold a B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with 2-3 years of experience in the paint or coating industry. Salary ranges from Rs. 45,000 to 60,000 depending on experience.

Responsibilities

Job Purpose

To ensure consistent quality and performance of all raw materials and finished paint products through systematic testing, documentation, and process control. The QC Chemist will be responsible for maintaining quality standards, reducing batch variations, and supporting production in resolving technical issues.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Raw Material Testing

    Inspect and test all incoming raw materials (resins, pigments, solvents, additives) before use.

    Approve or reject materials based on set specifications.

    Maintain a Raw Material Quality Log with supplier names, batch numbers, and test results.

  2. In-Process Quality Control

    Check dispersion quality (grind fineness, color uniformity) during production.

    Monitor viscosity and density at each manufacturing stage.

    Coordinate with production to correct any deviations.

  3. Finished Product Testing

    Test each batch for:

    • Viscosity
    • Density
    • Opacity / Hiding Power
    • Gloss / Matt level
    • Drying time
    • Adhesion & Film Hardness

    Approve batches only after results meet company standards.

    Maintain Batch Test Reports and sign-off on QC approval before packing.

  4. Documentation & Traceability

    Maintain daily QC records, batch test sheets, and sample retain system.

    Label all approved batches with QC Passed stickers.

    Assist in preparing SOPs and testing standards.

  5. Process Improvement

    Identify frequent quality issues and work on preventive actions.

    Evaluate alternate raw materials and provide feedback to Procurement.

    Train production helpers on quality awareness.

Requirements

Education: B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Chemistry / Chemical Engineering.

Experience: Minimum 2–3 years in paint or coating industry (decorative, industrial, or wood coatings).
