Punjab Police Intelligence Assistant and Constable Eligibility Criteria (Age & Qualification)
Age Eligibility:
- As on 1st January 2021, a candidate should have attained the age of 21 years but should not have attained the age of 28 years, provided further that SC/ST/BC candidates shall be given relaxation in upper age limit by 5 years.
- Ex-Servicemen shall be given relaxation in the upper age limit by 3 years, plus the number of years of service rendered/served by them in the Indian Defence Forces.
- Serving government employees (State Govt. or Central Govt.) shall be given relaxation in upper age limit by 5 years, but they should not have attained the age of 33 years, as on 1st January 2021.
Educational Qualification:
The educational qualification for the post of Intelligence Assistant and Constables is mentioned below:
Intelligence Assistant:
- a) a graduate from a recognized University or Institution, as the case may be, provided that such candidate shall also possess an ‘O’ Level Certificate of Information Technology from National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) (earlier called as DOEACC);
- OR
- b) a Graduate from a recognized University or Institution with
- Computer Science;
- Computer Applications;
- Information Technology as one of the elective subjects during the entire duration of graduation;
- OR
- c) B.Sc/B.Tech/BE in
- Information Technology;
- Computer Science;
- Computer Engineering;
- Computer Science & Engineering;

- Software Engineering;
- BCA;
- Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications from a recognized University or Institution, as the case may be.
Constables:

Physical Eligibility:
Candidates who aim to apply for this post must fulfil the following physical eligibility criteria:

Selection Procedure
The selection process shall be a two-stage process consisting of the following Tests:
- Stage I: Computer Based Test (CBT) consisting of Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) Paper to be conducted.
- Stage II: (i) Document Scrutiny (ii) Physical Measurement Test (PMT) (iii) Physical Screening Test (PST)
Note: Both Physical Measurement Test and Physical Screening Test shall be qualifying in nature.
Exam Pattern
There will be a total of 150 questions that candidates need to complete in 3 hours. The detailed exam pattern is given hereunder:
- General Awareness – 40 questions
- Quantitative Aptitude & Numerical Skills – 30 questions
- Mental and Logical Ability – 30 questions
- English Language – 10 questions
- Punjabi Language – 10 questions
- Digital Literacy & Computer Awareness – 30 questions
- Total – 150
Note: There will be no negative marking.

- General Awareness – Indian Constitution and its features, Central and State Legislature, Executive & Local Government Institutions, Judicial Institutions, History, Geography, Culture & Economy, Agriculture of India and Punjab, Science & Technology, Current Affairs (National and International).
- Quantitative Aptitude & Numerical Skills – Simplification, Average, Decimals and Fractions, Ratios and Proportions, Percentage, Profit & Loss, Simple Interest, Time and Work, Bar graphs and line graphs, Number systems, Speed, Time and Distance, Mensuration.
- Mental and Logical Ability – Number and Letter Series, Sequencing, Classification & Analogy, Coding & Decoding, Missing number, Puzzles, Verbal Reasoning, Non‑Verbal Reasoning, Statements & Conclusions, Pattern Completion, Order and Ranking, Direction and Distances, Relationship Problems.
- English Language – Reading Comprehension/Passage, Translation from Punjabi to English, Phrase Replacement, Cloze Test, Para jumbles/Odd one out, Sentence Rearrangement and Correction, Error Spotting, Fill in the blanks, Spelling Correction, Vocabulary (Synonyms/Antonyms, One Word Substitution).
- Punjabi Language – Sentence Completion and Structuring, Error Detection, Synonyms/Antonyms, One Word Substitution, Translation from English to Punjabi, Reading Comprehension/Passage, Idioms and Phrases.
- Digital Literacy & Computer Awareness – Fundamentals of Computers, Creating of Directories and Sub Directories, MS Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint), Internet, World Wide web & Web search engines, Social Networking, Video & Photo sharing, Email Communication, Mobile Phones (basic conceptual knowledge),Operating Systems, Computer Hardware, OTT/Instant messaging.
Physical Screening Test
- For Male Candidates (except Ex-Servicemen of and above 35 years) – (a) 800 meters run to be completed in 4:00 minutes (only one chance) (b) Long Jump 2.75 meters (3 chances) (c) High Jump 0.90 meters (3 chances)
- For Ex-Servicemen Male Candidates (35 years and above) – (a) 800 meters run/walk to be completed in -6:00 minutes (only one chance)
- For Female Candidates – (a) 400 meters run to be completed in 2:00 minutes (only one chance) (b) Long Jump 1.80 meters (3 chances) (c) High Jump 0.75 meters (3 chances)
Salary Details
The selected candidates will be entitled to initial pay of Rs 19,900 (minimum pay admissible) at Level 2 of 7th CPC/Pay Matrix on the recommendations of an in‑house committee of the Finance Department, vide its Letter No. FD-FP-10MISC/87/2020-2FP1 dated 29.12.2020.
