Job summary

RLK in Lahore invites applications for Professor Paediatric Dentistry (JP-411). The appointee will deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, supervise students and trainees, and lead clinical practice in paediatric dentistry.

The role requires a BDS with PMDC registration and postgraduate qualifications (FCPS/MDS/PhD) with at least 5 years of relevant teaching and clinical experience, including care for special-needs patients. Academic contributions and leadership are expected.

Qualifications

  • BDS or equivalent dental qualification from a PMDC-recognized institution.
  • FCPS, MDS, PhD, or equivalent Level III qualification in Paediatric Dentistry from a recognized institution.
  • Valid registration with the Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC).
  • Additional teaching, research, or academic qualifications will be an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Academic Leadership: Provide academic and clinical leadership for teaching and training in Paediatric Dentistry.
  • Teaching & Learning: Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching through lectures, clinical demonstrations, seminars, tutorials and case-based learning.
  • Clinical Supervision: Supervise students and postgraduate trainees in diagnosis, treatment planning and management of paediatric dental patients.
  • Advanced Clinical Practice: Provide expert consultation and management of complex paediatric dental cases within the scope of professional practice.
  • Child Behaviour Management: Ensure appropriate behavioural, psychological and communication approaches for safe and effective management of child patients.
  • Preventive Dentistry: Promote evidence-based preventive oral health, caries prevention, fluoride therapy, oral hygiene and early intervention.
  • Curriculum Development: Lead review and enhancement of course content, teaching plans and clinical competencies in accordance with the approved curriculum and PMDC requirements.
  • Assessment & Evaluation: Design, conduct and evaluate theory, practical, viva, OSPE/OSCE, clinical and postgraduate assessments.
  • Research & Publications: Lead and supervise research in Paediatric Dentistry and contribute to quality scholarly publications.
  • Student & Faculty Mentorship: Mentor junior faculty, postgraduate trainees and students in clinical practice, research and professional development.
  • Clinical Quality & Safety: Ensure high standards of infection control, patient safety, ethical practice and quality of paediatric dental care.
  • PMDC Compliance: Ensure departmental compliance with applicable PMDC requirements and readiness for inspections and assessments.
  • Academic Administration: Participate in departmental planning, academic committees, curriculum review, faculty development and institutional academic activities.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Coordinate with relevant dental and medical disciplines for comprehensive management of paediatric patients.
  • Institutional Responsibilities: Perform other academic, clinical, research and administrative responsibilities assigned by the HOD, Dean, Principal or competent authority.

Job Requirements
Qualification
  • BDS or equivalent dental qualification from a PM&DC-recognized institution.
