Keka HR is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead architecture and set technical standards for scalable software across the product portfolio. You will collaborate with Product, Architects, and cross-functional teams to translate product goals into high-quality, reliable software.

In your first year, you will shape architectural decisions for key areas, resolve complex issues with lasting fixes, and raise the engineering bar through mentoring.

Qualifications

• 10 to 18 years of experience in software engineering, with a track record of leading architectural decisions and mentoring teams.
• Hands-on skill in Web API development, OOP concepts, SOLID principles, and SQL databases; proficient in any modern language with .NET/C# as an added advantage.
• Knowledge of design and architectural patterns including MVC, MVVM and microservices; experience with multi-threaded distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture of scalable, maintainable solutions end to end from design to delivery and production reliability.
• Lead architectural decisions and technical guidelines; assess feasibility with Product teams.
• Partner with architects, managers and cross-functional teams to align development with goals and timelines.
• Improve code quality and engineering practices through code reviews and design reviews; participate in agile processes.
• Mentor engineers on best practices and coding standards.

About The Role

As a Principal Software Engineer at Keka, you’ll lead the design and architecture of scalable, maintainable software solutions and set the technical standards for how our teams build. You’ll work with Product, other architects, Engineering Managers and cross-functional teams to turn product goals into high-quality, reliable software. In your first year, success means shaping architectural decisions for key product areas, resolving complex production issues with lasting fixes and raising the engineering bar through mentoring and code reviews. You’ll join the Engineering team, which owns the design, build and reliability of Keka’s products. We are going language agnostic, so the team picks the right language and stack for each problem. The team works with high ownership, clear standards and a strong bias for execution.

What You'll Do

• Own the architecture of scalable, maintainable solutions end to end, from design and proof of concept to delivery and production reliability
• Lead architectural decisions and technical guidelines, and assess technical feasibility with Product teams
• Partner with architects, managers and cross-functional teams to align development efforts with project goals and timelines
• Improve code quality and engineering practices through code reviews, technical design reviews and agile participation
• Mentor and support engineers on best practices and coding standards, where relevant
• Develop Web APIs and new product features, introduce and evaluate new technologies, and troubleshoot complex production issues with detailed root cause analysis

What You'll Bring

• 10 to 18 years of experience in software engineering, with a track record of leading architectural decisions and mentoring teams
• Hands-on skill in Web API development, OOPS, SOLID principles and SQL databases, with proficiency in any modern language and .NET, C# and EF Core as an added advantage
• Solid understanding of design and architectural patterns, including MVC, MVVM and microservices architecture
• Experience architecting and building multi-threaded, distributed systems, with strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms and designing for performance
• Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, AWS or Azure cloud services and Git branching strategies
• Excellent troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
