Har Aik Global Associates LLP is growing and seeks an experienced Payroll Manager to lead UK payroll operations from Pakistan. You will own payroll quality, client service, and team performance while ensuring strict deadlines across a UK client portfolio.

The role requires eight years of UK payroll experience, strong English communication, and expertise with RTI, HMRC rules, pensions, and payroll software. You will supervise the payroll team and report to UK management.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation, HMRC RTI, and workplace pensions.
  • Proven ability to manage a payroll team efficiently and meet strict deadlines.
  • Excellent spoken and written English.
  • Confident dealing directly with UK clients and complex queries.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise and develop the payroll team with clear work allocation and timely delivery.
  • Oversee and review UK payrolls from input to client delivery across various cycles.
  • Ensure timely RTI submissions and accurate PAYE, NI, pension submissions, and year-end reporting.
  • Manage starters, leavers, deductions, holiday pay, and payroll changes.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of UK payroll changes and HMRC requirements.
  • Act as senior point of contact for client payroll queries with clear communication.
  • Monitor deadlines, workflow status, and client approvals to avoid delays.
  • Review controls, reconciliations and reports to identify errors or risks before finalisation.
  • Train team members and implement process/quality improvements.
  • Provide progress reporting to UK management and escalate risks promptly.

Har Aik Global Associates LLP is hiring for a client, a growing UK accountancy practice.

Role Summary

We are a growing UK accountancy practice seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to lead our Pakistan-based UK payroll operations. The successful candidate will take ownership of payroll quality, client service, team performance and statutory deadlines across a varied UK client portfolio.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, supervise and develop the payroll team, ensuring clear allocation of work, effective capacity management and accountability for deadlines.
  • Oversee and review weekly, fortnightly, four-weekly and monthly UK payrolls from input through to final approval and client delivery.
  • Ensure accurate and timely RTI submissions, PAYE and National Insurance calculations, pension submissions and year-end payroll reporting.
  • Manage starters, leavers, statutory payments, benefits and deductions, holiday pay, salary changes and payroll adjustments.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of UK payroll legislation, HMRC requirements, National Minimum Wage, auto-enrolment and relevant statutory changes.
  • Act as the senior point of contact for client payroll queries, resolving issues professionally and communicating clearly in written andv spoken English.
  • Monitor filing dates, payment deadlines, workflow status, outstanding information and client approvals to prevent late or incomplete submissions.
  • Review payroll controls, reconciliations and exception reports, identifying errors or risks before payrolls are finalised.
  • Train and support team members, monitor recurring errors and introduce practical improvements to processes, templates and quality controls.
  • Provide reliable progress reporting to UK management and upscale technical, client or deadline risks promptly.
Essential Requirements
  • Minimum eight years of relevant experience managing or processing UK payrolls.
  • Current and detailed knowledge of UK payroll legislation, HMRC requirements, RTI and workplace pensions.
  • Proven ability to manage a payroll team efficiently and deliver consistently against strict recurring deadlines.
  • Strong payroll review, reconciliation, problem-solving and quality-control skills.
  • Confident dealing directly with UK clients, including complex queries, missing information and deadline management.
  • Excellent spoken and written English.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with UK payroll software.
  • Highly organised, dependable and able to take full ownership of payroll delivery and team performance.
Preferred Experience
  • Previous experience within a UK accountancy practice or payroll outsourcing environment.
  • Experience with BrightPay, Xero Payroll, Sage Payroll or similar UK payroll systems.
  • Recognised UK payroll qualification, such as CIPP, would be advantageous but is not essential.
