Job summary

Pakistan Single Window (PSW) on behalf of the National Agri-Trade and Food Safety Authority (NAFSA) seeks a market access specialist to identify international export opportunities for plant products from Pakistan and to assess SPS requirements.

The role involves coordinating with consultants, preparing market briefs, tracking regulatory changes, and engaging with exporters and trade bodies; travel is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in market access support or agriculture export development.
• Good understanding of SPS/plant quarantine requirements affecting trade (preferred).
• Strong analytical and communication skills with ability to prepare briefs and market assessments.
• Willingness to travel for stakeholder coordination and market access engagements.

Responsibilities

• Identify and analyse potential international markets for export of plant and plant products from Pakistan, including assessment of phytosanitary access conditions and trade feasibility.
• Prepare market opportunity briefs identifying priority countries/commodities, estimated trade potential, SPS gaps, and recommended actions for market entry.
• Coordinate and provide technical oversight of consultants/experts/firms engaged for market access exploration and negotiation support (where outsourced).
• Monitor SPS developments in target markets, including changes in import regulations, emergency measures, and evolving phytosanitary standards affecting access.
• Track progress of market access initiatives and maintain structured records of contacts, submissions, consultant outputs, and follow-up actions.
• Support stakeholder engagement with exporters and trade bodies to gather inputs and disseminate market access requirements.
• Perform any other responsibilities assigned by the reporting officer in support of NAFSA’s mandate.

Job description

This position is being recruited by Pakistan Single Window (PSW) on behalf of the National Agri-Trade and Food Safety Authority (NAFSA). NAFSA is being established as a strategic national initiative to strengthen Pakistan’s agri-trade ecosystem through enhanced regulatory oversight, facilitation, and modernization of food safety and trade processes. The selected candidate will be part of NAFSA’s foundational team, contributing to the development of systems, processes, and institutional capabilities.

Education:

- B.Sc. (Hons.) (minimum sixteen years of education) in Agriculture with specialisation in Entomology, Plant Protection, Plant Pathology, Weed Science, Agribusiness, or related field.

Experience

• Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in market access support, trade facilitation, regulatory compliance, or agriculture export development.

• Good understanding of SPS/plant quarantine requirements affecting trade (preferred).

• Strong analytical and communication skills with ability to prepare briefs and market assessments.
