As a global organization, flexibility to support teams across multiple time zones is important. This is an in‑office role, five days per week, with working hours from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM PKT to align with global teams.

Job Profile

This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands‑on experience with many of the core activities involved in a buy‑side, technology‑focused corporate development team or private equity firm. The selected candidate will be an integral part of the Banyan M&A team, working directly with Associates, Directors, and VPs at our Toronto headquarters in a high‑energy, collaborative environment.

The role offers exposure to a wide range of areas, including new industries, business models, valuation methodologies, and research techniques, as well as opportunities to contribute to due diligence and M&A transaction processes. The candidate will take on meaningful responsibilities and have a measurable impact on the organization.

The primary developmental objectives include building a strong understanding of the private company acquisition process, developing the ability to analyze software businesses, and preparing high‑level valuations.

Key Responsibilities
  • M&A Deal Evaluation (60%)
  • Operational, financial, and market due diligence (30%)
  • Data‑focused special projects (10%)
Job Responsibilities
  • Serve as the first point of contact for analyzing and presenting financial and non‑financial information on new acquisition opportunities, utilizing Banyan’s key KPIs and investment criteria.
  • Review confidential information on potential acquisitions and prepare investment summaries for presentation to Banyan’s management team and Board.
  • Participate in due diligence for potential acquisitions by analyzing in‑depth operational aspects of businesses and performing complex analyses.
  • Prepare valuation and operational models for potential acquisitions.
  • Research attractive software business models and industries aligned with Banyan’s investment criteria.
  • Collaborate with a high‑energy, global M&A team.
Qualifications for Success
  • 3–5 years of complementary professional experience.
  • Strong academic performance in an undergraduate degree program.
  • Professional designation obtained or near completion (ACCA, CA, CPA, or CFA).
  • Highly motivated, with a demonstrated interest in private equity, technology, and finance.
  • Natural curiosity about how businesses operate, a passion for technology, a tenacious approach to research, and the ability to think independently.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Collaborative mindset, with the confidence to challenge the status quo and propose improvements to existing processes.
  • Strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of financial statements.
  • Experience building financial models, with the ability to transform unstructured data into well‑organized analysis; prior M&A experience is an asset.
