Job summary

SMEC is hiring a Lab Technician for a hydropower project in Swat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. You will conduct laboratory and field testing of construction materials, supporting the project team to maintain quality standards and compliance with specifications.

Ideal candidates have a Diploma or B.Sc. in Civil Engineering or a relevant qualification, with 8+ years in materials testing or laboratory work, and familiarity with QA/QC in large civil projects. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Diploma or B.Sc. in Civil Engineering or a relevant technical qualification.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in construction materials testing or laboratory work.
• Experience in hydropower, dams, infrastructure or major civil projects is desirable.
• Knowledge of testing methods for concrete, aggregates, and soil; familiarity with QA/QC standards.
• Good communication, documentation, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct laboratory and field tests on concrete, aggregates, soil, and other construction materials.
• Collect, prepare, label, and test material samples in accordance with approved procedures and standards.
• Monitor and record test results and prepare laboratory reports and quality documentation.
• Assist QA/QC engineers in verifying the quality and compliance of construction materials.
• Conduct field testing and support site inspections as required.
• Operate and maintain laboratory testing equipment and report any issues.
• Assist in identifying and reporting material test failures or non-conformances.
