Job summary

Pakistan Single Window (PSW) recruiting on behalf of the National Agri-Trade and Food Safety Authority (NAFSA) seeks an inspector to conduct phytosanitary inspections and sampling, ensure export compliance, and coordinate with Customs at entry/exit points. The role supports NAFSA’s foundational mission in modernizing food safety and trade processes.

The candidate will work in field/shift environments, possess a B.Sc.

Qualifications

• Minimum sixteen years of education in Agriculture with specialization in Entomology, Plant Protection, Plant Pathology, Weed Science or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant field experience in plant quarantine, plant protection, inspection, or related operations (fresh candidates with strong practical exposure may be considered).
• Knowledge of sampling, inspection procedures, and basic phytosanitary requirements.
• Ability to work in field/shift environments with high integrity.
• Basic computer skills for record entry and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Conduct phytosanitary inspection of plants, products, and regulated articles at entry/exit points per laws and SOPs.
• Collect official samples for diagnostic analysis with proper chain of custody and documentation.
• Inspect export consignments to verify compliance with importing-country phytosanitary requirements before certification.
• Supervise phytosanitary treatments (fumigation, heat, cold) and confirm parameters and safety compliance.
• Inspect facilities and service providers for compliance (packhouses, warehouses, treatment facilities, quarantine stations).
• Implement prescribed phytosanitary measures on non-compliant consignments (detention, treatment, re-export, destruction).
• Detect, record, and report pest interceptions, non-compliance, or biosecurity risks; prepare inspection/treatment reports.
• Coordinate with Customs and other border agencies during inspection and clearance processes.
• Perform other responsibilities assigned by the reporting officer in support of NAFSA's mandate.

The selected candidate will be part of NAFSA's foundational team, contributing to the development of systems, processes, and institutional capabilities.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct phytosanitary inspection of plants, plant products, and regulated articles at points of entry/exit in accordance with notified laws and SOPs
• Collect official samples (plants, plant products, pests, and related material) for diagnostic analysis, ensuring prescribed procedures, chain of custody, and documentation
• Inspect export consignments to verify compliance with importing-country phytosanitary requirements and consignment eligibility prior to certification
• Supervise and verify phytosanitary treatments (fumigation, heat, cold, and other approved measures) and confirm treatment parameters and safety compliance
• Inspect and monitor approved facilities and service providers (packhouses, warehouses, treatment facilities, quarantine stations, yards, conveyances) for compliance
• Implement prescribed phytosanitary measures on non-compliant consignments (detention, treatment, re-export, destruction) as authorized
• Detect, record, and report pest interceptions, non-compliance, suspected fraud, or biosecurity risks and prepare official inspection/treatment reports
• Coordinate with Customs and other border agencies during inspection and clearance processes
• Perform any other responsibilities assigned by the reporting officer in support of NAFSA's mandate
