General Summary
Qualcomm India is looking for a Global IT Server Operations Leader to lead a team of server technology professionals working on Unix/Linux, Windows, Virtualization, Containers, and related technologies. This team is the point of contact for all operational issues, incidents and service requests in Qualcomm globally, providing 24x7 support for Global Server Infrastructure. The leader will manage a team of circa 30 roll-ups and an appropriate management layer, and will be responsible for end-to-end Problem & Change management for Server infrastructure, coordinating with other IT service lines and vendors to drive solutions. Qualcomm leaders are expected to be strong engineers who can both dive deep technically and manage effectively.
Responsibilities
- Own Global Server Operations and collaborate with Architecture, peer IT Operation teams, service providers, and OEMs/Vendors.
- Lead and deliver strategic programs to enable the next generation server infrastructure in support of Qualcomm’s engineering and business units.
- Oversee the implementation and maintenance of server infrastructure, ensuring service uptime, tech-refresh, and technology migration.
- Demonstrate solid Compute and Virtualization service delivery and operations with leadership and transformation experience.
- Drive operational excellence by creating processes, procedures, and automation to improve efficiency and support internal customers.
- Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, system upgrades, monitoring, and troubleshooting for server infrastructure.
- Drive ITSM-based measurement of metrics, and maintain documentation for server technology processes, procedures, and configurations.
- Develop and improve incident, problem, change, and service request management processes for the server space; drive improvements to tools and procedures for global operations.
- Implement and maintain automation tools and scripts; stay current with automation concepts (infrastructure as code, zero-touch provisioning, AI/ML) and relevant technologies.
- Oversee performance management and team health, including mentoring, project management, audits, and training coordination with engineers and managers.
- Lead org development through hiring, onboarding, and training of new personnel to scale with platform and service growth.
- Communicate metrics and health of the server environment to executive management; collaborate with global teams across regions (India, US, Europe, Asia) and internal business partners.
Minimum Qualifications
- 8+ years of IT-related work experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 10+ years without a Bachelor's degree.
- 5+ years of supervisory or leadership experience.
Preferred Qualifications / Skills
- 12-15 years of management experience in IT server infrastructure and global operations; experience in a Global Matrix Operating model.
- Engineering degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Deep understanding of server hardware, Unix/Linux, Windows OS, Microsoft Hyper-V and VMware virtualization, Kubernetes containers.
- Understanding of server security, networking, storage connectivity, server orchestration platforms; familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Knowledge of server monitoring, management, and automation; experience with Ansible, Python, PowerShell automation.
- Strong ITIL framework knowledge, service level management, and operational metrics.
- Proven experience leading IT professionals and strong communication/interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
- Knowledge of data protection, disaster recovery, and business continuity best practices.
- Certifications such as NetApp NCDA, EMC Proven Professional, or similar are a plus; OS knowledge (Linux and/or Solaris) is a plus.
- Soft skills: critical thinking, data analysis, reporting, and ability to influence at all levels.
