Job summary

Path Accountants is seeking a Finance Manager to lead management accounting for a portfolio of SME clients. This hands-on leadership role requires at least 8 years of experience and a proven ability to bring structure, insight, and commercial rigour to fast-moving client businesses.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years' accounting experience, including audit.
• Minimum 3 years of management accounting experience with multi-site, franchise, or group structures.
• Strong skills in financial accounting, management accounting, and preparation of financial statements for SMEs and self-employed clients.
• Strong Excel, cloud-based accounting software (e.g. Xero) and financial systems skills; consolidation across multiple entities is an advantage.
• Effective communication skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts in accessible language and build client relationships - English C1.
• Ability to interpret financial information, prepare budgets and forecasts, and deliver clear, actionable reports to clients and internal stakeholders.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, proactive, solutions-focused, and ability to manage multiple client portfolios and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end management accounts process for a portfolio of clients, including month-end close, journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare and present monthly management accounts, budgets, forecasts and variance analysis to senior client stakeholders.
• Provide commercial insight and financial analysis to support decisions across multi-site and group client structures.
• Lead, mentor and develop members of the management accounting team.
• Drive continuous improvement in reporting processes, controls and systems.
• Support budgeting and forecasting cycles, working closely with client site and operational leads.
• Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors and other professional stakeholders as required.
• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and internal financial controls.
