The primary responsibility of the Product Designer is to conceptualize, develop, and introduce new products that align with the company’s design direction and market competitiveness.
Responsibilities
The designer must prepare comprehensive and detailed production drawings for each product, create and maintain mood boards to support the design process, and stay informed about the latest trends in furniture and lifestyle to ensure the relevance and innovation of their designs.
Qualifications
- Aesthetic and Design Expertise – A Product Designer should demonstrate a refined aesthetic sense and a discerning eye for design in the creation and development of new products.
- Market Awareness – Must be guided by a thorough understanding of current market trends, consumer preferences, and emerging industry developments to ensure products remain relevant, competitive, and appealing to the target audience.
- Technical Proficiency – Proficiency in design-related software is essential for a contemporary Product Designer, supported by strong technical know-how. AutoCAD and 3ds Max are the primary tools—concepts are developed using 3ds Max (or Cinema 4D), while detailed drawings are prepared in AutoCAD.
- Documentation and Detailing – Responsible for preparing detailed drawings, cutting lists, and defining quality parameters for each product as part of the R&D deliverables.
- Material Knowledge – Should possess prior knowledge of various materials used in furniture design and production.
- Bill of Materials Verification – Accountable for verifying the Bill of Materials (BOM) in accordance with product specifications and requirements.
- Cross-Departmental Coordination – Effective communication and coordination with other departments are essential to ensure smooth product development and execution.
- Production Support – Required to assist the Production Department as needed during the mass production phase of newly developed products.
- Mood Board Development – Responsible for creating and maintaining mood boards for all customer orders to ensure clarity in design direction and alignment with client expectations.
