Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Media Studies or related field, or equivalent practical media experience.
• 1–3 years of proven experience in digital journalism, mobile reporting or social media news creation.
• Portfolio showing on-camera reporting and videos you edited yourself (mandatory).
• Proficiency in CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, InShot, and VN Editor.
• Strong mobile shooting skills with good lighting, framing and clean audio.
• Familiarity with Canva or Photoshop for news banners and thumbnails.
• Professional fluency in Urdu; Punjabi or other regional languages a plus.
• Mobility: valid driving licence and own transport to reach breaking news quickly.

Responsibilities

About the Role

News Alert is looking for a sharp, tech-savvy Digital News Creator to help drive our digital news coverage.

This is a hybrid field-and-desk role. You will find and break news, report from the field, and independently shoot, edit and publish engaging video and text content for our digital platforms. You will handle the full story cycle yourself, from pitching the idea and filming on the scene to delivering a polished news package ready to publish.

You will report to the Assignment Editor / Administrator, and your work will directly shape what our audience sees, reads and shares. The role suits someone with an eye for factual storytelling who stays calm under tight deadlines and loves producing digital-first news that informs, engages and empowers people.

Responsibilities

Field Reporting & News Gathering

• Find and pitch fresh, impactful news stories, breaking news alerts and local community updates.
• Report from the scene, including pieces-to-camera (PTCs) and interviews with eyewitnesses, officials and community members.
• Verify information and cross-check facts with several sources to protect journalistic integrity and prevent misinformation.

Mobile Journalism (MoJo) & Visual Capture

• Use smartphones, wireless mics and basic stabiliser gear to shoot sharp video footage and high-quality b-roll on your own in the field.
• Capture high-quality photos and video with smartphones, DSLRs and mobile microphone setups, paying attention to lighting, framing and clean audio.

Video Editing & Content Production

• Edit raw field footage into polished news packages using industry-standard software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, VN Editor and CapCut.
• Add digital elements such as tickers, breaking news templates, lower-thirds, captions, subtitles and royalty-free background music.
• Build in modern visual hooks, text overlays and interactive captions designed to grab viewers in the first 3 seconds of scrolling.
• Lay out short-form and long-form videos to suit each channel, for example vertical reels and shorts versus horizontal updates.

Scripting, Copy & Graphics

• Write sharp, error-free news scripts, voiceovers, headlines and captions in Urdu.
• Design eye-catching thumbnails and social media graphics that drive high click-through rates.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Media Studies or a related field, or equivalent practical media experience.
• Experience: 1–3 years of proven experience in digital journalism, mobile reporting or social media news creation.
• Portfolio (mandatory): a strong portfolio showing both on-camera reporting and videos you edited yourself.
• Video editing: proficiency in mobile and desktop editing tools such as CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, InShot and VN Editor.
• Photography and videography: strong mobile shooting skills, with a good grasp of lighting, framing and clean audio capture.
• Graphic design: familiarity with Canva or Photoshop for news banners, thumbnails and social graphics.
• Language: professional fluency in spoken and written Urdu for scripting and reporting. Punjabi or other regional languages are a strong advantage.
• Mobility: a valid driving licence and your own transport, such as a motorbike, so you can get to breaking news quickly.
