The role

We are seeking an experienced Chief Social Development and Resettlement Specialist to lead social safeguard, resettlement, and community engagement activities for a hydropower project based in KPK Pakistan. The position requires strong expertise in social impact assessment, resettlement planning, and compliance with World Bank and Government of Pakistan safeguard policies.

  • Lead the preparation and implementation of Resettlement Action Plans (RAPs) and related safeguard documentation.
  • Conduct social assessments and social safeguard analyses in line with World Bank and national requirements.
  • Oversee monitoring and evaluation of social safeguard measures during project implementation.
  • Ensure effective stakeholder engagement and community consultation processes.
  • Provide technical guidance to the project team on all matters related to social development and resettlement.

With a track record of achievement in a related role, you will have gained your experience in a consultancy environment and have a passion for building trusted relationships to drive positive change and win new work.

Qualifications

Suitable applicants will have/be:

  • Tertiary qualifications or a related discipline (e.g. Master’s degree in social sciences or a related discipline)
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant professional experience, including at least 5 years in social safeguard and resettlement‑related activities.
  • Proven experience preparing and implementing RAPs, social assessments, and safeguard documentation.
  • Prior experience of hydropower or similar infrastructure development projects will be an advantage.
