Overview
Job Brief: As an Assistant Manager - Quantity Survey, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost works. You will coordinate with real-time market conditions, procurement, and finance teams to ensure that estimates for construction and development projects, covering civil, structural, MEP, and finishing estimates reflect coordination with engineering, identify cost-saving opportunities, and support project budgeting, bidding, and financial decision-making processes.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates based on drawings, BOQs, and specifications for all stages of the project lifecycle (concept, schematic, design development (IFC).
- Analyze drawings and documents to prepare quantity take-offs and item-wise cost breakdowns.
- Validate subcontractor and supplier quotations, analyze rates, and prepare cost comparisons.
- Assist in the preparation of tender documents, budget proposals, and cost reports. Coordinate with design, procurement, contracts and finance teams to ensure alignment cost estimates with technical and commercial aspects.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for all construction disciplines including civil, structural, MEP, and finishing work.
- Monitor actual project costs vs. estimates and investigate variances.
- Provide support in contractual pricing, project cash flow forecasting, and risk assessments.
- Attend internal and external project meetings and provide input on cost matters.
- Verify contractor bills and certify Interim Payment Certificates (IPCs).
- Prepare feasibility reports for proposed projects. Coordinate and report regularly to head office staff on cost-related matters.
Qualifications
- DAE in CIVIL, quantity surveying, or related field
- Certification in cost engineering is an advantage
- Minimum 7 years of experience in cost estimation, preferably in large scale construction or real estate development projects
- Prior experience with both pre-contract and post-contract cost control activities
- Excellent knowledge of construction methods, materials, and market pricing
- Proficiency in Estimation software (PlanSwift or any other).
- Strong command of MS Excel
- Analytical and quantitative skills with high attention to detail
- Effective communication and coordination skills; ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
