Calrom Pakistan (Private) Limited, part of Travel Innovation Group, is seeking an AI-Augmented SQL Engineer in Lahore. You will define standards, mentor teams, and build AI-assisted SQL tooling while collaborating with developers and DevOps to embed guardrails into PRs and CI/CD.

Qualifications

• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL.
• Strong ability to optimise queries and read execution plans.

• Proven troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.

Responsibilities

• Define SQL engineering standards, best practices and AI guardrails for queries, stored procedures, indexing and schema changes.
• Translate SQL standards into AI prompts, review rules and automated checks.
• Define validation and approval guardrails for AI-generated SQL and when human review is needed.
• Continuously improve SQL standards, guardrails and tooling based on production findings.

SQL Standards & AI Guardrails

• Define SQL engineering standards, best practices and AI guardrails for queries, stored procedures, indexing, schema changes and database components.
• Translate SQL standards into AI prompts, review rules and automated checks.
• Define validation and approval guardrails for AI-generated SQL, including when specialist human review is required.
• Continuously improve SQL standards, AI guardrails and tooling based on engineering and production findings.

AI-Assisted SQL Engineering

• Use AI to write and optimise SQL queries, stored procedures and database components within defined engineering guardrails.
• Build AI-assisted capabilities to generate and review SQL for performance, security, reliability and maintainability.
• Use AI for execution-plan analysis, indexing recommendations, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, documentation and test generation.
• Review complex or high-risk database changes where specialist engineering judgement is required.

Enablement & Collaboration

• Enable Development teams to safely use AI for routine SQL development and database-related work.
• Work closely with developers, QA engineers and DevOps to embed SQL standards and AI-assisted checks into Pull Requests and CI/CD pipelines.
• Support knowledge sharing through documentation, internal demos and peer mentoring on SQL best practice and safe AI usage.

You have:

• Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL.
• Strong experience in query optimisation, performance tuning and reading execution plans.
• Strong experience with indexing, stored procedures and database design.
• Proven ability in database troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.

• Strong understanding of SQL engineering standards and best practices.
• Hands-on experience with Git, Pull Requests and CI/CD.
• Experience with GitHub Copilot, OpenAI / Azure OpenAI, AI-assisted development or automated code review is an advantage.
• Exposure to Azure SQL, and scripting or development in C#, Python or PowerShell is an advantage.
