Osmosis with Elsevier is seeking a Video Editor and Conversion Specialist to maintain and adapt our video library for diverse audiences. You will convert project files using After Effects and Premiere Pro, clean up assets, synchronize audio, and render outputs under in-house standards.

Qualifications

About Osmosis with Elsevier

This position will be working with the Osmosis with Elsevier team who create accessible, high-quality videos designed to enhance learning and understanding for students in the health sciences. Our products are based on an extensive catalog of thousands of whiteboard-style videos that are loved across the world and across health care disciplines. Our team is composed of passionate nursing and medical educators and highly skilled creatives who produce these videos. We are seeking to hire Video Editor and Conversion Specialists to help us maintain our existing video library and adapt it to different audiences.

Job Overview

Most videos in our catalog were created with proprietary software. Due to limitations of this software, updating, translating, localizing, and other adaptations of these videos are expensive and time consuming. To overcome this, we have developed methods to convert these video project files from the proprietary format into a more accessible format using Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro. Successful applicants for the Video Editor and Conversion Specialist role will play a key role in this conversion. These contributors will be given raw video components including illustrations, text, voiceovers and some animations that they will need to clean up and combine to create project files from which a reproduction of the original video can be rendered. This work may also include working with files translated into non-English languages that the contributor may not speak. In either case, these contributors will be provided with training and detailed instructions from the Osmosis team, so editing these video files should be straightforward.

This role will eventually evolve into aiding with adaptation of the original videos for maintenance, localization, re-scoping, and other purposes. The successful applicant will need experience with Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro and they will need to deliver a consistent conversion output, within the constraints of our in-house style and detailed technical specifications

Key Deliverables

The deliverables for this role include, but are not limited to:

• Maintain consistent video conversion output each week (The equivalent of 15 – 20 minutes of edited video).




• Receive and apply feedback to improve style, timing, and content comprehension.




• In addition to incorporating edited content (images or audio) from coworkers (Video Updating and Audio Syncing as needed)




• Follow all workflow standards, project tracking tasks, and file archival protocols.




• Attend training and proactively communicate project statuses and challenges

Qualifications

• Must have a bachelor's degree




• Video editing skills as demonstrated by a reel and/or portfolio that shows an understanding of pacing, video effects, and image composition and quality




• Requires 1 year experience using Adobe After Effects




• Requires 1 year experience using Adobe Premiere Pro




• Time- and task-management skills, to effectively prioritize projects




• Basic problem-solving skills, to work independently and seek out solutions




• Strong written and verbal communication skills, to interact clearly and thoughtfully
