Job summary

One Call is seeking a technical leader to join an established team and help define the platform's direction. This newly created role emphasizes ownership and cross-team influence, not people management, with a focus on building credibility and shaping engineering standards.

You will own architecture decisions end-to-end, mentor engineers, and collaborate with non-engineering stakeholders to explain trade-offs in business terms.

Qualifications

• Experience in a lead or technical ownership capacity.
• Proven track record owning architecture decisions end-to-end.
• Leads initiatives spanning multiple teams or large, multi-quarter projects.
• Communicates with non-engineering stakeholders and explains trade-offs in business terms.
• Deep expertise in at least one modern language (C#, Python, Java, or Go); .NET a plus.
• Strong system design and distributed systems fundamentals.
• Hands-on use of AI tools in daily engineering work.
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP), CI/CD, and modern operations.
• Prior mentoring engineers.

This is a newly created position with no existing Tech Lead or established playbook, so this individual will help define the technical direction while integrating into a team with established dynamics and ways of working. This is a technical leadership role rather than a people management role, with a strong emphasis on ownership and cross-team influence.

Must-Haves:

• Experience in a lead or technical ownership capacity, not just as a senior individual contributor
• Proven track record of owning architecture decisions end-to-end
• Experience leading initiatives that span multiple teams or large, multi-quarter projects within a team
• Ability to communicate effectively with non-engineering stakeholders and explain technical trade-offs in business terms
• Deep expertise in at least one modern programming language (C#, Python, Java, or Go); .NET is a plus but not required
• Strong system design and distributed systems fundamentals
• Active, hands-on use of AI tools in daily engineering work (required)
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP), CI/CD, and modern operational practices
• Prior experience mentoring engineers
