Qualifications

Five or more years as a law clerk, paralegal or legal specialist supporting litigation, tax or regulatory work.
Degree in Legal Management or related field; Juris Doctor or Bar membership is an asset.
Exceptional written English - drafts go to lawyers, CRA and courts.
Strong Excel: reconciliations and schedules for tax matters.
Ferocious deadline discipline in tax disputes.

Responsibilities

Drafting first drafts of notices of objection, taxpayer relief applications, and CRA correspondence.
Build and maintain chronologies, document books, and exhibit sets; log client records.
Prepare and check Excel schedules behind net worth assessments and settlement scenarios.
Track statutory timelines and maintain bring-forward system.
Prepare ATIP requests and assemble submissions to CRA standards.
Assemble Tax Court of Canada filings and books of documents under lawyer direction.
Keep matters current in Clio: documents filed, tasks updated, time recorded.
