Job summary

Dempsey Resource Management Inc. seeks an experienced Director of Tax to lead tax strategy, compliance, and provision for a fast-growing DTC/e-commerce business in Cebu.

Reporting to Corporate Controller, you will be the tax subject‑matter expert and partner with accounting, external auditors, and EY to ensure accurate tax filings and strong controls. You will guide tax planning across sales and use tax, tariff and trade issues, and ASC 740 compliance, while acting as the sole internal tax

Qualifications

• BS/BA in Accounting or Finance; CPA required.
• 10+ years of tax accounting experience at large private/public company or mix of public accounting and industry.
• Deep ASC 740 income tax provision expertise and multi-state corporate income tax compliance.
• Strong sales and use tax compliance knowledge across U.S. states, nexus analysis, and exemption certificates.
• Experience with tariff and trade environment including Section 301/232 tariffs, HTS classification, duty drawback, and customs compliance in consumer goods/e‑commerce contexts.
• Experience supporting Big 4 external audits and preparing tax PBCs and workpapers; prior Big 4 interaction is a plus.
• Proven ability to work as sole internal tax resource and independently with precise execution.
• Strong research skills and application of GAAP (ASC 740) and IRC in consumer goods, DTC, or subscription commerce.
• Effective communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Director of Tax to serve as the company’s resident tax expert. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, this individual contributor role is responsible for managing all aspects of tax compliance, provision, and strategy for a high-growth direct-to-consumer subscription and e-commerce business. The Director of Tax will be the go-to resource for all tax matters across the organization, working closely with the accounting team, external auditors, and EY, outside tax preparation firm. This role carries significant strategic importance.

Job Requirements

Education & Experience

• BS/BA degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent field; CPA required
• 10+ years of relevant tax accounting experience at a large private or public company, or a combination of public accounting and industry experience
• Deep expertise in ASC 740 income tax provision and multi-state corporate income tax compliance
• Strong working knowledge of sales and use tax compliance across all U.S. states, including nexus analysis and exemption certificate management
• Demonstrated experience navigating the current tariff and trade environment, including Section 301/232 tariffs, HTS classification, duty drawback, and customs compliance in a consumer goods or e-commerce context
• Experience supporting Big 4 external audits and preparing tax-related PBCs and workpapers; prior experience working directly with a Big 4 firm a plus
• Proven ability to work effectively as an individual contributor and serve as the sole internal tax resource
• Strong research skills and experience applying GAAP (ASC 740) and IRC within the consumer goods, DTC, or subscription commerce industry
• Ability to work independently, think critically, and execute with precision in a fast-paced environment
• Effective communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional colleagues
