Responsibilities
- Teaching and Instruction: Conducts swim lessons, teaching various swimming strokes and water safety skills to individuals and groups.
- Lesson Planning: Creates and implements tailored lesson plans based on students' age, skill level, and goals.
- Student Assessment: Evaluates students' swimming abilities, tracks their progress, and provides feedback.
- Safety Management: Enforces pool rules and safety protocols to ensure a secure learning environment.
- First Aid: Provides immediate assistance and first aid in case of minor injuries or accidents in or around the pool.
- Record Keeping: Maintains accurate records of student progress and participation.
Key Skills
- Swimming and Water Safety: Strong swimming abilities and extensive knowledge of swimming techniques and water safety.
- Communication: Excellent verbal communication skills to effectively instruct and motivate students.
- Patience and Enthusiasm: A patient and enthusiastic demeanor to foster a positive learning experience.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and correct improper swimming techniques and handle dangerous situations.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build rapport with students, parents, and other staff members.
Work Environments
Swim instructors can work in a variety of settings, including public pools, private swim clubs, schools and recreation centers, and community centers like the YMCA.
- With at least 2 years of proven experience as a swimming instructor.
- Experience teaching children, youth, and adults at different skills levels.
- Previous experience in schools, academics, or sports clubs is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of swimming techniques across all strokes.
- Ability to plan, organize and deliver structured training sessions.
- Good communication in English (Arabic is an advantage).
- Patience, discipline and motivational teaching style.
