Job summary

HSBC in Mexico City seeks a Subdirector Risk to oversee technology risk and regulatory compliance across the market. The role requires coordinating with the COO and senior technology leaders to prioritize demand and manage budgets for regional tech teams.

As a leader in HSBC’s Global Service Center, you’ll drive risk-aware delivery, foster ethical practices, and develop engineering capabilities to attract top talent while ensuring alignment with GB/GF goals and local regulatory expectations.

Qualifications

• Regulatory and audit experience (Mexico): hands-on with regulatory requirements and audits.
• Project management experience and strong command of PM tools.
• Stakeholder management: coordinate multiple stakeholders across Technology and leadership.
• Technology risk management and IT controls.

Responsibilities

• Provide consultancy and support for effective delivery of Technology services.
• Support market COO on regulatory relations at market level.
• Ensure market demand is captured and prioritized in the GB/GF portfolio.
• Oversee direct cost, headcount, and annual planning for market teams.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Subdirector Risk.

Role purpose

The Regional / Country Head of Technology is accountable to oversight responsibility for all Technology resources within the defined entity, and accountable to Global Business / Global Function CIO and/or Regional CIO and entity (market) COO.

Main Activities

• Provide consultancy & support effective delivery of Technology services in the entity.


• Responsible for providing support to market / country COO, when necessary, on matters relating to relevant regulatory and Board relationships at market level


• Responsible for providing support to ensure that all market demand is captured and effectively prioritized within the GB/GF global portfolio


• Responsible for providing support on direct cost, headcount management, and annual planning for market teams.


• Responsible for support on running local CIO owned Technology services and end-to-end Technology delivery.


• Responsible for governing risk responsibly, promoting ethical management of risks, communicating changes in policy, and ensuring in market regulatory processes and procedures are adhered to.


• Responsible for collaborating and providing support with peer market Heads, GB/GF Business, and other senior Technology Personnel to implement GB/GF goals within entity.


• Responsible for providing support on entity management


• Provide the consulting services to or even lobby local authorities/regulators.


• Responsible for providing support on building and nurturing a world-class engineering practice capability to attract, develop and retain Technology talent.


• Enhance the individual/team capabilities.

Requirements

• Regulatory and audit experience (Mexico): Hands-on experience with regulatory requirements and supporting regulatory, internal, and external audits, including remediation and evidence delivery.


• Project management experience and strong command of PM tools.


• Stakeholder management: Proven ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders simultaneously (Technology, COO, global GB/GF teams, senior leadership).


• Technology risk management and Compliance and IT controls
