Job summary

FGC+ is seeking a Structural Draftsman (CAD Specialist) to translate architectural plans and structural designs into accurate, construction-ready CAD drawings. This role is drafting-focused and requires strong technical understanding of structural engineering concepts.

You’ll collaborate with architects, structural engineers, designers, and project managers on residential, commercial, and mixed-use projects, handling revisions, checks, and documentation using AutoCAD and MS Office.

Qualifications

Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architecture, Drafting, or related field required.
1–3 years of relevant experience in structural drafting or architectural drafting.
Hands‑on experience with structural drafting and AutoCAD.
Understanding of structural systems, construction methods, building materials, and components.
Ability to read and interpret structural plans, drawings, calculations, and specs.
Basic knowledge of structural calculations and design principles.

Responsibilities

Create and revise CAD drawings using AutoCAD (floor plans, elevations, sections, structural layouts, details).
Translate engineering and architectural information into drawings reflecting approved design.
Work with foundations, beams, columns, slabs, and framing in drawings.
Read and interpret structural plans, calculations, and specifications.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Structural Draftsman (CAD Specialist) who is detail-oriented, technically capable, and comfortable working with structural and architectural drawings.

The role is primarily drafting-focused, but it also requires a good understanding of structural engineering concepts. You’ll take architectural plans, engineering designs, structural requirements, and client specifications and turn them into accurate, construction-ready CAD drawings.

You’ll work closely with architects, structural engineers, designers, and project managers on residential, commercial, and mixed-use projects.

In simple terms, the role involves:

Creating and revising CAD drawings using AutoCAD, including floor plans, elevations, sections, structural layouts, and construction details.
Translating engineering and architectural information into drawings, making sure the final plans accurately reflect the approved design.
Working with structural components such as foundations, beams, columns, slabs, and framing.
Reading and interpreting structural plans, calculations, specifications, and engineering inputs.
Performing or assisting with basic calculations and design checks related to dimensions, loads, quantities, and structural components when required.
Checking drawings for accuracy, consistency, constructability, and compliance with project requirements, building codes, and industry standards.
Identifying discrepancies or conflicts between architectural plans, structural drawings, calculations, and other project documents.
Coordinating with the project team to clarify technical requirements and resolve drafting or design issues.
Managing drawing revisions, project documentation, and multiple deadlines while keeping files organized.
Using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook, for documentation and communication.

Essentially, we're looking for someone who can understand the engineering requirements behind a project and accurately translate them into clear, detailed, and practical drawings.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate would have:

A degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architecture, Drafting, or a related field.
Around 1–3 years of relevant experience in structural drafting, structural design, architectural drafting, engineering support, or a similar field.
Hands‑on experience with structural drafting and AutoCAD.
A working understanding of structural systems, construction methods, building materials, and structural components.
The ability to read and interpret structural plans, engineering drawings, calculations, and technical specifications.
Basic knowledge of structural calculations and design principles, including the ability to apply engineering inputs when preparing drawings.
Strong analytical, mathematical, spatial reasoning, and problem‑solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail, particularly when working with technical drawings and calculations.
Good verbal and written communication skills for coordinating technical information with architects, engineers, and project managers.
The ability to work independently while knowing when to ask for clarification when technical requirements are unclear.
The ability to manage multiple projects, revisions, and deadlines.
Most importantly, a “puzzle‑solver” mindset—someone who can spot inconsistencies, understand what may be causing them, and work toward practical solutions.
